and / or• A process that is critical to the successful achievement of your

organizations goals.

Measure

This phase involves selecting product characteristic, mapping respective process, making necessary measurements and recording the results of the process. This is essentially a data collection phase.

Objectives of Measurement phase

• Collect baseline performance data for identified projects.• Understand current problems.

Analyze

Analyze

In this phase an action plan is created to close the “gap” between how things currently work and how the organization would like them to work in order to meet the goals for a particular product or service.

Objective of Analysis phase

• The objective of this phase is to study the current processes in terms of what?, who?, how?, when? and where?.

• To confirm that the proposed solution will meet the desired quality improvement goals.

• To identify resources required for successful implementation of the solution.

• To plan and execute actual improvements.

Control

Control

This phase requires the process conditions to be properly documented and monitored. This phase requires institutionalizing SMAIC into day to day working of the organization. In this phase the gains derived by certain specific projects are applied to the other projects as well for optimum business results.

• To ensure that our processes stay in control after the improvement solution has been implemented and

• To quickly detect the out of control state and determine the associated causes so that actions can be taken to control the problem before non-conformances are produced.
