In 1892, the Regent Queen Maria Cristina of Habsburg and Lorena founded the Royal Centre for Higher Education - that bears her name - and placed it under the custody of the Order of Saint Augustine. Our Centre is part of the architectonic monument complex of the Monastery of El Escorial. We are entrusted to continue the cultural and educational tradition that have been hallmarks since the 16th century.
