Mission and Evangelism News From Lamb of God’s Mission Statement: “The purpose of

Lamb of God LCMS is to proclaim God’s love in Jesus to each other, to our community, and to the world…”

Jesus said to them “I am the Bread of Life; whoever

comes to me shall not hunger and

whoever believes in me shall never thirsts.”

John 6:35

This is the verse that is included with the loaves of bread given out at the end of each service to guests and members to remind them that Jesus is the Bread of Life and to encourage continued worship with us at Lamb of God. Please enjoy the bread or take it to share with a neighbor, friend or neighbor that needs the message of the Bread of Life, Jesus. Remember our members that are at home because of illness; share a loaf of bread and a visit with them.

Many thanks to our bread maker, Elaine.

We also have our meetings at 11:15 am

on the second Wednesday of each

month, after Bible class. The committee is

looking at planning events for 2019.

We would love to have you join us!

Call Sharon Mahnke 504-578-7479.

Care Committee News

Please let Pastor Boehlke,

our elders, care committee

chairman or the church office know

of anyone who has been in the hospital, has

been ill or has a family death and needs a meal

so that the care committee can extend an offer

to help. Anyone interested in participating in this

service to others can contact Jackie Kennedy at

985-640-5400.

Prayer Chain

Our prayer chain is always ready to

receive prayer requests from the

congregation, friends of the congregation or the

community. Please call Marian Pezant 985.685.6054

when needed.

The Mission & Evangelism Committee

The Mission and Evangelism Committee has a fund to accept all payments and donations for our projects (except Mt. Olive Feeding Ministry) Instead of writing on the memo line for whatever projects we have (example: shirts; Christmas gifts, etc.) now you simply write the check to Lamb of God Lutheran Church and put on the memo line: Mission and Evangelism Fund. The ONLY exception is for donations to Mt. Olive Feeding Ministry Fund!!

One of our “ongoing expenses” is the purchase of Bibles, seasonal devotion material (Advent and Lent) and other devotional material. The M & E committee provides free devotional material all through the year, at special events like Oktoberfest and the Faith Fest, and whenever we have an outside event at our location (JOY auction and boutique, for example). Sharing the Word of God is what we do!!

Lenten Devotions

This year’s Lenten devotion booklets and other written material will be available in the Narthex beginning March 3, 2019. Be sure to pick up your copy from the Peace Table.

JOY NEWS

JOY Bible Study will be held Tuesday, April 16th at 9:30 AM.

JOY Quilters will be held Monday, April 29th and Tuesday, April 30th at 9:00AM.

The Lamb of God volunteers were cookin’ and servin’ at Mt. Olive on Monday, March 11, 2019. A good time was had by all!! We packed 125 boxes for delivery and fed a few walk-in visitors. We were able to provide “seconds” for them!! The casserole we fixed each time we cook is named “Lombardi Casserole”! (Featured in the photo.) It is made with ground meat, tomatoes, macaroni and

lots of cheese. One of the guests told us “that it was a ‘five-star’ meal!!”

Reminder: The Mt. Olive Feeding Ministry has a designated fund. When donating to the Mt. Olive Feeding Ministry always make your check to Lamb of God Lutheran Church and write in the memo line: Mt. Olive Feeding Ministry.

Maundy Thursday Seder

Plan to join us Thursday evening, April 18, 2019 in the Fellowship Center at 6:00 pm as we celebrate the Seder Meal/Service with guest speaker Pastor Carl Noble. His wife, Elizabeth Noble will be as-

sisting the Mission & Evangelism Committee and some members of the Fellowship Committee in preparing the meal and items needed for the ser-vice. A “door offering” will be taken for “Jews for Jesus”.

The Seder Meal is the meal of the Jewish Passover Celebration. It is this meal that Jesus celebrated with his disciples before His arrest and crucifixion. Pastor Noble, a Lutheran Pastor whose father was Jewish will educate us on the meaning of the Passover meal and its importance to Christians.

The Seder Meal will begin at 6 pm! A full dinner meal will be served. Call now to reserve your place for the Seder Meal at 985-847-1877.

Pray Boldly Save the date!

On Saturday, May 18, 2019 Woody Keim will be leading a workshop on prayer at Lamb of God. Woody is an active member of St. Paul Lutheran-Marigny in New Orleans and serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Southern District. He is currently leading workshops on prayer around the Southern District churches. In the workshop he will emphasize the importance and power of prayer, walking us through the “who, what, when, and where “of prayer, but most importantly, the “how” of a bold prayer life.

Registration for the free workshop will begin at 9:00 am and the workshop will begin at 9:30. A light lunch will be provided, and the workshop will end at 2:30 pm.

Jean, Brenda, Eileen, Sharon, & Sissy. Ellen, Geri, Elva, Sandy, & Pat Auctioning off items!

JOY’S 39th Annual Auction

JOY held it’s 39th Annual Auction on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Lamb of God. It was a great success with many in attendance. Pictured are the ladies from JOY and items being auctioned off.

A special “Thanks” to the volunteers and attendees who make this ministry possible!

There will be more information on the Auction in May’s Newsletter. The Ladies of JOY (Jesus Others & You)
