We have three strands of work: 1. With disabled children; helping them to gain independence through youth groups, clubs and holiday activities. 2. With their parents via family support work, training, support groups and workshops, helping them to feel less isolated, learn strategies to support their children and build a peer support network. 3. With the whole family; siblings come to some of our clubs and holiday activities and we run at least one family activity a month to local attractions, enabling our families to enjoy quality time together as well as the opportunity to meet other families who are facing similar challenges. Scope: To provide effective day to day management relating to all aspects of the

charity’s operations. To support the Board of Trustees with all governance and compliance issues

To work toward the aspirations for the charity to be a leading service provider for families and disabled children in West Kent

To ensure the financial sustainability of the charity by identifying and securing appropriate funding that supports the mission and values of the charity.

To work in a multi-agency environment to identify gaps in services and promote the commissioning and development of services for disabled children and their families in Kent.

To work in partnership with the other Parent Driven Charities across the county to promote the Disabled Children’s agenda

Main duties and responsibilities:

1. To manage all operational activity of the charity according to the strategic direction provided by the Board of Trustees

2. To be responsible for all aspects of staff management, including recruitment and supervision

3. To be responsible for all aspects of contract and grant management and performance, including monitoring and reporting KPI outcomes to funding bodies

4. To provide support to the Board of Trustees in their duty to ensure the effective running of a charitable company including charity governance and Charity Commission requirements to ensure that the charity conducts its affairs in accordance with its constitution and its obligations as a registered charity

5. To prepare financial budgets for approval by the Trustees and to manage the financial affairs of the charity in accordance with those approved budgets and the charity’s financial policies and procedures

6. To undertake all aspects of business development including identification of funding opportunities, bid writing and tender submissions.

7. To work in partnership with all organisational members of the Totius Consortium to ensure full co-ordination and co-operation in relation to contract delivery and performance.

8. To maintain existing and develop new partnerships with statutory, voluntary and private sector orgs for the benefit of disabled children and young people and their families

9. To develop and manage initiatives to increase the engagement of disabled children and young people and their families

10.To work in a multi-agency environment to ensure a seamless and co-ordinated approach to services for disabled children and their families

11.To be responsible for updating and revising the charity’s business plan, marketing and fundraising strategy in accordance with the Boards strategic direction

12.To develop and maintain policies and procedures in accordance with the Board’s strategic direction

13.To undertake general and specialist training as necessary14.To lead & represent Space 2 Be Me in a professional, engaging and inclusive

manner.
