Recycle your electronics There are many locations in London where you can drop off old electronics for reuse and recycling. And, it’s free! Electronic equipment like computers, printers, and televisions can be reused. Steel, glass, copper, aluminum, plastics and precious metals can also be recovered and made into new products. For drop off locations: www.london.ca/electronics Between October 19 and 26 inspections will occur of randomly selected Blue Boxes and Blue Carts. Those that have correctly sorted cartons & cups and other recyclables will win a $50 Gift Card donated by Tim Hortons. All prize winners will be eligible to win the grand prize of a $1,500 gift card to your local grocery store donated by the Carton Council of Canada. Contest rules: london.ca/recycle Recent estimates suggest that 20% of food waste placed in the garbage is avoidable because it is food that could have been eaten. The other 80% is non-edible food scraps (e.g., peelings, cores, bones). Good habits to help reduce food waste: • Plan meals & use a shopping list. • Stick to your list & buy only what you need. • Take smaller portions. • Eat leftovers the next day or freeze them. • Use the most perishable foods first.
