Seventh ChordsBy stacking a 3rd on top of a triad, you create a seventh chord. There are five common seventh chords: dominant seventh, minor seventh, major seventh, diminished seventh, and the minor seventh flat five. All seventh chords consist of a triad with the addition of the 7th.
