Important notes about veneers and hardwood timbers

Colour accuracy

Specifications and Terms

We use solid hardwoods and wood veneers whose varying grain and figure emphasise the natural beauty and individuality of the wood. No two pieces of timber are identical, and there will be natural variations in hue, grain and figure, and both knots and colouring arising from natural minerals in the wood. Bamboo also exhibits variations in colour and pattern. None of these variations or features are faults: they are simply proof of the natural origin of the product. Please note that most timbers and veneers either lighten or darken on exposure to light. Should you add additional items at a later date, there may be an initial colour mismatch that should even out over a period of time.

Due to variations in lighting and the limitations of the printing process, variations in colour may occur between the illustrations in this brochure and manufactured items. Samples of all our finishes are available on request from our Customer Service Department.

We build furniture to last: all our furniture is guaranteed for five years (three years for moving parts), but we have many sites installed more than fifteen years ago which are still providing faultless service.

Our investment in sophisticated computerised machinery enables us to manufacture very efficiently and keep our prices low. We also employ highly skilled craftsmen to carry out the operations that are beyond the abilities of even the best machines. This enables us to offer a comprehensive range of solutions to suit all applications and environments.

We operate an Environmental Management System that meets the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001, certificated by BSI. We hold FSC® Chain of Custody for an ever-increasing proportion of our timber raw materials (please contact us for full details of the products and materials that are covered under our FSC certification).We undertake ongoing review of our products, raw materials and processes with the objective of continual improvement in our environmental performance. To minimise our waste to landfill we have invested in

a wood burning furnace with clean-air afterburners, which disposes of much of our waste timber and extracted dust. The furnace reduces the amount of waste timber going to landfill and also provides heating for our factory. We are fully committed to eliminating or reducing the environmental impact of our operations wherever possible.

Range of tables with a Flip Top that may be easily released with a single spring catch and pivoted through 90° from horizontal to vertical. Tables may then be nested together, reducing the space needed for storage. Moving tables through doorways from room to room with “flipped tops” is simple and convenient.

Sectional tables in a variety of shapes and sizes, on removable legs, fixed or mobile frames, which may be used individually or linked together to form larger configurations. Versions with removable legs may be stored and moved on a mobile trolley.

All models have been carefully designed to combine comfort and style with exceptional durability. There is a wide choice of mechanisms, arm and base options to enable you to tailor each chair to your particular needs and preferences.

All working chair mechanisms and columns have been tested to BS 5459-2:2000, for use by persons weighing up to 150kg for 24 hours per day.

G-Series visitors/meeting chairs are offered with and without arms, with straight or waisted shell, on cantilever frames (stacking and non-stacking) and on four legs.

Ele & HBBExecutive and Conference chairsHBB combines distinctive contemporary design with exceptional comfort. The range comprises working chairs with synchro mechanisms and conference chairs on both cantilever skid bases and four star swivel bases. Four-legged models may be specified with our unique Freefloat™ mechanism. Freefloat™ provides a smooth range of movement from a forwards tilt of -3° to a rear tilt of +10°. The automatically progressive resistance requires no user adjustment and because no controls are required the Freefloat™ mechanism does not alter the visual appearance of the chair. Freefloat™ is optional on Fulcrum F1, F2 and F4 chairs and on G-Series G5 and G7.

Fulcrum F1 and F2 armchairs have been tested to BS4875-1 2007 to level 5 (severe contract use).

Soft SeatingReception and Break-outThe versatile HB1 series comprises an individual chair and two seat sofa on polished chrome tubular legs. The HB1 chair is also offered on a spyder base and a polished aluminium base.

Skoop is cute, curvy and comfortable – and available on a skid base or 4 star aluminium base.

S-Sofa is a flowing, curvilinear design that can look sleekly conservative or distinctively modern dependant on the upholstery specified.

Lux is a very high quality interpretation of the traditional tub chair, in both single seat and two seat variants.

Monday is a crisp, visually light chair and sofa – with matching glass top coffee table – ideally suited to breakout areas or “smart casual” receptions.

FinishesMFC (melamine) and our hand-selected, crown cut veneers are both very durable finishes. Veneers are a more costly raw material than MFC and require a lengthy and skilled series of preparation and finishing processes – and therefore carry a price premium.
