LayoutThe layout is done to fit the picture. The picture over powers the text and is the focal point of this page. The text is a list of pages which is the usual convention for a contents page

LureThe quote that is on the picture lures the readers in as they have a shocking statement that makes the reader want to turn to page 38 to find out more about this story.

House styleThe house style of this page is used consistently as the trend is red and white with a font that is also consistent. The only change comes when they are talking about the band ‘Oasis’, as the text turns gold to signify that they are more important.

Mode of addressIn the main heading at the top of the contents page it uses the word ‘you’ to address the audience, this builds a strong reader-writer relationship.

LayoutThe layout is slightly random looking and does not follow the usual codes and conventions that are in a usual magazine, this is because they are usually in a list with page numbers next to them on the left hand side, this breaks that of the usual way that English reading people read from left to right and start on the right, this connotes that the magazine may be rebellious and wants to break the mould.

House styleThe house style is followed in this contents page by having the fade of pink to white in the background. All the headings are in red and the captions after the headings are in black, there is also a constant font that is used.

SubscriptionThe contents page follows the convention of have a subscription notice on the bottom showing a previous issue and offering the magazine for a cheaper price than in the shops, this lures the readers into buying more issues.House style

The house style is grey, orange, black and white, these colours are harsh colours and reflect the audience of rebellious 20 year olds that read the magazine.

LayoutThis page has a layout of more pictures than text which makes it appeal to its younger audience of festival going 20 year olds. The actual page numbers that are on the right third of the page are in the conventional order of being in a list with headings and page numbers next to what is on this page, this makes the magazine feel professional but while still laid back due to the pictures.

Issue infoThis page follows the conventions buy having the issue number and date in the corner of the page, this makes the magazine feel professional towards the reader.

House styleThe colours that are used are white, yellow and pink, these colours are associated with nightclubs and neon lights which makes the magazine feel like a party persons magazine and appeals to thus audience.

Layout This layout is gridded, which makes the contents seem more organised and more professional, as a contrast to this the font is a scruffy handwritten font which gives the opposite effect, making the magazine seem less professional, this makes the readers feel confident buying it as they can relate to it.

House styleThe colours that are used reflect the fact that this is a glamorous magazine, as the gold is always associated with high end people and red can be shown as the red carpet so this is also glamorous.

Main imageThe main image is of a glamorous women which makes the reader feel influenced by the picture and want to read onto the story on page 60, this then, is also a lure.

Layout The layout of this page follows the conventions of having a title heading along the top of the page and a list of pages and what's on them underneath, the organisation make the readers feel that the magazine is professional and they are then more confident buying it

Layout This layout follows the conventions of a regular magazine as it has a large title heading at the top of the page and a list of pages and what’s on them underneath, but it also has large photos so these steal the focal point of the heading and appeal to other audiences.

LureThe word ‘Exclusive!’ next to a certain story makes the reader want to read on and look at the rest of the story on page 34.

House styleThe colours that are used are red black and white, these colours can be associated with danger and rebelliousness, this appeals to the audience that the magazine is targeting.

House styleAs is visible KERRANG! Use a consistent house style throughout all there content pages, as they have just the simple colours of black, white and yellow. This makes the readers feel that they can expect what is in the next contents page and be familiar with it when they get it.

House styleFrom these 2 you can see that they use the same font and colours throughout there magazines, as they are both using a consistent font and the colours grey and black and the occasional red, the red parts stand out the most so they are the focal points.

LayoutThe layout of the magazine ‘vibe’s’ contents page is similar throughout all of the issues, it has a consistent heading layout by having the one word ‘contents’ spread across 3 lines. The pages and their number are also following conventions by being in a list, which gives the sense of organisation.

Main imageThe main images of these pages are both in black and white, which gives a bored feel but the reds make them more exciting, the expressions on the men's faces make them seem depressed so maybe this may transfer this to the readers.

EditorialThis page follows the codes and conventions and has an editors letter at the top of the page, also by having the picture of the editor and the signature hand-written, this gives the magazine a more personal feel

Layout The layout is a grid so this gives an organised feel and that the magazine is professional , the more pictures than words which is present appeals to a the younger audience that the magazine targets. Lure

The words like ‘Plus!’, ‘massive’ and ‘review!’ attract the readers eyes as soon as they turn to this page, they also make them want to read on to the things that they are luring them into e.g. page 33 for the Reading and Leeds review.

Layout This page follows conventions by having the title heading going across the top of the page and having the pages ad numbers in a list underneath it, this is so the readers are familiar with the layout of the magazine.

Lure The quote along the bottom of the page lures the reader into the story so that they want to read further into the story on the page that it says, page 32.

Main imageThe man that is in the main image is facing directly into the camera and seems to be looking directly at the reader, this makes the reader feel that they are involved in the story. There is also more picture than there is text so this gives a more laid back feel to the page and is not as serious as it would be if the page was covered in text.
