The model/artist Ciara looks

attractive, the fact that she’s wearing a

leotard and high heels suggests that

she’s trying to display her body prove

that she has sex appeal. Also, Ciara

has been photographed lying down with

her feet in the air to connote her

femininity. Her face is facing the reader

directly instead of her head turned so

that she could be identified. Also, the

pose she’s presented with, her legs in

the air makes her seem original and not

artificial. She doesn’t look

uncomfortable, instead rather neutral.

The word “CONTENTS” is

adequate because it’s bold so it’s

easy to understand, audiences

will be able to notice that this is a

contents page. It’s laid out in a

unique way.

The colours used in the

contents, white, grey and black

gradient are effective as it gives the

page an electric and energetic yet

rather sophisticated and classy

look. The features and contents on the

page are

very straight forward. They’re easy

to identify so the reader can locate

the content conveniently.

This magazine would be targeted towards

men because of the fact that Ciaras’ legs

are in the air and she’s wearing a

leotard, that would be considered attractive

to men. But it could also be targeted

towards women that are inspired by Ciara.

The page number positioned at the

bottom right corner is to indicate

what page is being shown.

“NOV05” is so the reader knows

what the edition/issue they’re

reading. The “CONTENTS” is

positioned in the top middle of the

magazine so it’s clear what page the

reader is on.

The fact that James Blunt is the only

person on the contents suggests that

he’s the most important artist in the

magazine. Also, the fact that he’s

looking at his audience implies that

he’s trying to persuade his readers to

buy the magazine.

The red arrow positioned at the bottom

right corner is useful as it indicates to

the reader that they need to turn the

page. The fact that they didn’t write it

makes the magazine seem informal.

The features have more information

on what’s in the magazine so that it

could be more interesting to the

reader, thus persuading the reader

to buy the magazine to find out

about the features.

The features and every month is also

effective because it puts the contents

into sections so that it’s easier to find

out things that are going on in the

magazine.

The rapper 50 Cent has been

photographed in a black t-shirt and

durag. This indicates what type of

person he is based on what he

wears. Also, his costume fits into

the musical genre he’s associated

with.

The features on the contents are

very forthright as they go straight

down the right hand side of the

contents page. It’s easy so the

audience can locate what page

they’re looking for.

The page number at the

bottom left corner next to

50 Cent implies to the

reader what page the

interview is on so it’s easier

to find.

Even though the title “Contents” isn’t

located on the page, the

features, page numbers and content

are there, so that highlights that this

is a contents page. This could mean

that having that title isn’t a convention

of a music magazine.

JAN/FEB 2009 suggests

what issue/edition this

magazine is from.
