Attendance & ParticipationRegular church service attendance is scriptural! “Let us holdunswervingly to the hope we profess, for He Who promisedis faithful. And let us consider howwemay spur one anotheron toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meetingtogether,assomeareinthehabitofdoing,butletusencourageoneanother,andallthemoreasyouseetheDayapproaching.”(Hebrews10:23-25)

Service OrderSinceenteringthe“HouseoftheLord”isdifferentfromanyotherplacewemaygo, it isappropriate to sharesomeprinciplesofchurchetiquette,especiallyasitrelatestoGrace.Ourwillingnesstobe sensitive to theseareasof concernwill result inamorepowerfulanointingandmorepeoplewillbeblessed.

1) Be PunctualAccordingly,considerdrivetime,placingchildrenatappropriatelocationsforKidsMinistryandtimeinfindingaseat.

2) Be PreparedBringyourBible.Bringanotepadandpen,iPad,Tablet,etc.andbringtheLord’stitheandyouroffering.Comewithanexpectantandopenheart.

3) Be ParticipatoryFind out what time the service or event you are planning onattending begins. During the course of the service there willalwaysbeopportunitiestobeinvolved.Participateinwhateverisgoingonatthetime.BesensitivetotheflowoftheHolySpirit.

There are many worship expressions which may be utilizeddependingontheatmosphere,theleadingoftheHolySpiritanddirectivesoftheworshipleaderandteam.

4) Be AwarePleaserememberthatachurchserviceisacorporateexperience.Thosearoundusareaffectedbywhatwedoordonotdo.Smallchildrenshouldbecheckedintothenurseryorageappropriateclass. If there is a special reason why this cannot happen, itbecomesyourresponsibilitytokeepthemquietandbehavedintheauditoriumorotherpublicareasofthebuilding.Iftheyareunabletostayquietandarebecomingadistractiontoothersintheroomorcongregation,pleasetakethemoutoftheserviceuntiltheyhavebeenquieted.Makeeveryefforttoremainintheservicefromthestarttofinishtoavoiddistractingothers.Ifyouhavetoleaveforanyreason,pleaseexitquietlyandreturnatanappropriatetime.

Note: The best times to enter/exit once service begins are during corporate worship; not during special music or prayer, nor when the speaker is at a crucial point in the message.

5) Be CaringAswehaveresponsibilitieswithtakingcareofahome,anofficeandotherpersonalenvironments,itisalsotheresponsibilityofeachof us tomaintain the appearanceof our churchbuildingand facilities. Though there are staffwhomaintain daily tasksof facility maintenance, there are many things that eachcongregationmembercandotoassistincaringfortheHouseofGod.Thisway,wealltakeownershipofourplaceofworshipandwebecomeresponsiblestewardsaswehavebeencommandedinScripture.

6) Be RespectfulProverbs18:24,“Amanwhohasfriendsmusthimselfbefriendly.”Thesameprincipleappliestorespect.Ifwewantrespect,wemustshowrespect.Beingrespectfulisanunselfishactthatrequiresanindividualtolookoutsideofthemselvestoconsidertheimpactofwhattheydoandhowwhattheydoimpactsothers.

Asothers,whichmay includeushers,greeters,staffpersonnel,etc.,areservingtoensurethecongregation isaccommodated,pleaserespectthem.Extendkindnesstothoseservingyou,yourfamilyandyourfriends.

Bemindfulandrespectfulofthingssuchastrafficdirectives intheparkinglot,usherseatingprotocol,properprotocolforcellphonesduringserviceandlimittalkingduringservice.Aseachofusrespectsignage,protocolandrequestswhichareestablishedin order that all congregation members are accommodatedefficientlyandwithexcellence,weallbecomeapartoftheunitywhichservesthecongregationmoreeffectively.

Volunteer Ministry is the Exciting Opportunity to Serve theBody of Christ.VolunteerMinistryisnotjustabout“doing”something.It’saboutreleasing your dreams, talents, gifts and abilities and allowingthemtobeusedbyGod.It’saboutallowingHimtodirectyourstepssothatyoufulfillyourroleintheBodyofChrist.

ItisourresponsibilityasindividualsintheBodyofChristtostepupandtakeparttomovetheKingdomofGodforward.Weeachmustaskourselves,“Am I willing to team up with God to change my world?”

Volunteer Ministry is BIBLICAL“FromHimthewholebody, joinedandheldtogetherbyeverysupportingligament,growsandbuildsitselfupinlove,aseachpartdoesitswork.”(Ephesians4:16).

Serving is a Matter of the HEART (Ephesians6:7-8)- Inordertostepupweneedtoshowup!- Movingthingsmakesthingshappen!- The question is not, “What all am I involved in?” but, “AmIeffective?”- Servewith singlenessofheart andwithpurpose, as to theLordandnottomen.
