FROM THE FESTIVAL DIRECTOR

MESSAGES 3

I am certain that you will love our NOOSA alive! Festival program in 2018. This year we have focussed on our core mission of bringing culture to the community. Together with our many wonderful cultural partners we are featuring a fabulous line up of star-studded performances and speakers in our very own beautiful part of the world.

In my fifth and last year as Festival President, I want to pay a special tribute to the support we receive from the Noosa community, local businesses, Patrons, Friends, Council and Tourism bodies. That so many share our passion of bringing the best of the best to Noosa for 10 days as well as supporting us to promote our wonderful local talent is very rewarding and one of the reasons that the Festival is known as Australia’s Premier Regional Performing Arts and Culture Festival. We

are all part of an extended family and I look forward to watching this this grow and deepen for the next 17 years.

Of course this Festival would not be possible to deliver without our amazing Festival Team (our volunteer Management Committee; our Festival Director, Ian Mackellar; Office Staff; Production Crew; Marketing and Publicity contractors; and the many Volunteers whose passion and dedication make it possible to put on such an outstanding program). Not bad for a small not-for-profit charity!

Enjoy.

Unbridled Passion Diana ThompsonReaders of ‘Winterflood’s Passion’ will remember Nick Delaney, the handsome vet who missed his opportunity with the lovely heroine Charlotte Ranleigh. ‘Unbridled Passion’ is the next chapter in Nick’s story. The second in Diana Thompson’s Bowral series, ‘Unbridled Passion’ sheds more light on the strong undercurrent of romance and drama in the deceptively placid Southern Highlands of New South Wales.

DIANA THOMPSON leads a chaotic life dividing her time between a farm she shares with her husband in Braidwood NSW, known as Baskerville Park, named after her beloved Hungarian Viszla hounds, and her high-end jewellery store Briolette in Canberra, renowned for its award winning designs.

Between her farm and business commitments, Diana is a voracious reader of all things romance. Now she writes romance novels too with ‘Winterflood’s Passion’ published in 2015 followed by ‘Unbridled Passion’ a year later.

A shocking murder rocks the quiet coastal Victorian town of Queenscliff, a place where police work usually entails minor traffic infringements and dealing with the occasional Saturday night drunk.A worthy addition to Dorothy Johnston’s seachange mystery series, The Swan Island Connection once again brings Queenscliff to life with intrigue and exacting description.

DOROTHY JOHNSTON is the author of eleven mystery and literary novels, including a quartet of mysteries set in Canberra.

The first of these, ‘The Trojan Dog’, was joint winner ACT Book of the Year. The Age gave it their ‘Best of 2000’ in the crime category. Two of Johnston’s literary novels, ‘One for the Master’ and ‘Ruth’, have been shortlisted for the Miles Franklin award.

SARA DOWSE is an award-winning writer and artist who, in the 1970s, played a significant role in second wave feminism as one of Australia’s first ‘femocrats’.

Four other novels followed: ‘Silver City’, ‘Schemetime’, ‘Sapphires’ and ‘Digging’. ‘As the Lonely Fly’ has been 25 years in the writing, and is Dowse’s most important work to date.

Dinner and Show presented by NOOSA alive!

FOOD & MUSIC 3120-29 JULY 2018

Australian actor Stephen Curry, star of The Castle, The Cup, The King, The Nugget, The Time of our Lives, The Secret Life of Us and a litany of film and television productions that don’t start with ‘The’, presents a comedic, candid, no-holds barred account of an entire life spent avoiding having to get a real job. Curry lifts the lid on the Australian industry and will keep you on the edge of your seat with the incredible tale of how he’s never been uncovered as the absolute fraud he is.

Untrained, undisciplined, mildly unattractive and extremely unlikely to have a toll-way named after him, this one-time Noosa local presents a show sure to leave you wondering how to convince your children not to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
