TrevisanZaccaria Piano Duo – Biography The piano duo formed by Teresa Trevisan and Flavio Zaccaria debuted at the Interfest of Bitola in Macedonia in 2002. The two pianists choose to combine their personal interests and experiences dealing with difficulties of this particularly delicate ensemble. They performed in Bitola the Bach Brandenburg Concertos in a rare arrangement for piano duet by Max Reger, revised by Filippo Trevisan. Afterwards they went on performing this revision to date with a great success. Aiming to discover the repertoire of not widely-known works, in 2005 Teresa Trevisan and Flavio Zaccaria recorded a CD completely devoted to unpublished pieces by Max Reger. The Duo was awarded the Honorary Mention at the Web Concert Hall Competition 2006 thanks to the recording of the Suite op.16 by Reger. Nevertheless they enjoy playing great works and often perform the Bach Concertos for two and three pianos as well as the Mozart Concerto K365. The duo has been frequently invited to give piano and piano-duo masterclasses. Among the most recent, the Oulu University in Finland (2007), the Conservatorio Superior de Musica "Manuel Massotti Littel" of Murcia in Spain (2008), the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius (2010), the Yasar University of Izmir (2011), the Conservatoire Royal de Mons (Belgium 2012) and, through a videoconference in the frame of the LOLA project, the Texas Christian University (USA). In November 2010 the duo was the star of the world première audiovisual remote execution between the IRCAM in Paris and the Tartini Conservatory in Trieste.

Teresa Trevisan – Biography The Italian pianist Teresa Trevisan was born in Palmanova and graduated "cum laude" from the Trieste Music Conservatory “Giuseppe Tartini”. She started her piano studies with Maria Puxeddu going on to learn with Professor Luciano Gante at the Trieste Music Conservatory. Afterward she advanced her studies at the Ecole normale de Musique "Alfred Cortot" in Paris with Aquiles Delle Vigne, becoming then his assistant there. Teresa Trevisan was awarded various recognitions at national and international competitions performing in numerous Italian cities including Venice, Rome, Padua, Milan, Gorizia, Udine and in cities abroad including Paris, Brussels, Skopje, Bitola, Rotterdam, New York, Hartford, Washington, Salzburg, Ulan Bator, Vilnius, Izmir, Tirana, Novi Sad, Boesendorfer Saal im Mozarthaus di Vienna. Keen on Chamber music, she attended the courses at the International Menhuin Academy of Gstaad and the International Academy of the Trio di Trieste in Duino. Her performing debut as a piano duo with her brother Filippo was held in 1989 at the Bourg Madame Festival (France). The Rachmaninoff Opera Omnia recording (for two pianos and four hands) and the Bach Brandenburg Concertos (arrangement for piano duet by Max Reger, revised by Filippo Trevisan for Velut Luna) received a great critical acclaim. In 1998 the duo was awarded the "Morét d'aur" prize. Since 2002 Teresa Trevisan has been playing with the pianist Flavio Zaccaria. Aiming to discover a repertoire of less well-known works, in 2005 they recorded a CD entirely devoted to unpublished works of Max Reger on the label Velut luna. The Duo Trevisan Zaccaria was awarded an Honorary Mention at the Web Concert Hall Competition 2006.

Flavio Zaccaria – Biography

The Italian pianist Flavio Zaccaria is a graduate from the Music Conservatory “Benedetto Marcello” of Venice as a student of Eugenio Bagnoli and also attended the international piano courses of Bruno Mezzena. In the same period he also deepened his knowledge of harmony, counterpoint and composition under the guidance of Ugo Amendola. As a soloist, he received several awards in national and international competitions, but his special interest is in the piano duet. He started a brilliant career with the pianist Antonella Perini, performing as a solo duo and with orchestra under renowned conductors such as Lu Ja, W. Deschev and others. They were the only Italian piano duo honored in the International Chamber Music Competition of Caltanissetta (1987) and Marsala (1990). Flavio Zaccaria is also involved in chamber music and performed with the Quartetto Marcello and the Trio di Venezia, receiving very favorable reviews. In 2002 he formed a permanent piano duo with Teresa Trevisan. The piano duo was formed at the Interfest of Bitola in Macedonia, the two pianists choosing to combine their personal interests and experiences in confronting this particularly delicate musical formation. There they performed the Bach Brandenburg Concertos in a rare arrangement for piano duet by Max Reger, revised by Filippo Trevisan, afterwards often executed with great success. Aiming to discover a repertoire of less well-known works, in 2005 Teresa Trevisan and Flavio Zaccaria recorded for the label Velut Luna a CD entirely devoted to unpublished works by Max Reger. The Duo was awarded an Honorary Mention at the Web Concert Hall Competition 2006. This is not to say the duo neglects the great works: they recently performed the Bach Concertos for two and three pianos and the Mozart Concerto K365.

2016: Ferruccio Busoni and Max Reger In 2016, there is a great opportunity for celebrating two renowned musicians, Busoni and Reger, rarely performed in spite of their remarkable compositional output. This is the year of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ferruccio Busoni and the centenary of the death of Max Reger. Both of them were famous in their time. In fact Busoni was one of the greatest pianists of all time and Reger had high academic honors, including two degrees "honoris causa”. Furthermore they were devoted to the “Supreme Bach”, to whom they paid tribute in their compositional style; both wrote interesting works for two pianos. In particular the work by Busoni was in the past one of the most successful pieces for the acclaimed Italian piano duo Gorini-Lorenzi. The great composer Luigi Dallapiccola described their interpretation of the Fantasia Contrappuntistica as “quite absolute”, not only reflecting the merit and value of the duo performers but also the greatness of the music. Therefore, the transcription of the Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, made by Gino Tagliapietra (a student of Busoni, great performer, composer and teacher as well for several decades at the conservatory "Benedetto Marcello" of Venice) can be used as the initial part of a program formed by bringing together pieces of both musicians. Regarding the repertoire for piano 4-hands by Reger, we would propose a program based on original compositions, including the Suite op.16 (for which we were awarded the Web Concert Hall honorary mention) and celebrating Reger as a transcriber, the Bach Six Brandenburg Concertos.

2 pianos and percussion: Bartok and Rachmaninoff This program, presented in Trieste in February 2014 has attracted a very enthusiastic response from the audience. It includes the beautiful, well-known, but never enough performed Sonata For Two Pianos and Percussion by Bela Bartok, one of the greatest masterpieces of the twentieth century together,

along with an absolute novelty, the version for two pianos and percussion of the Symphonic Dances by Sergei Rachmaninoff. As most concertgoers know, Rachmaninoff himself had written his last symphonic composition for two pianos to be able to perform it with Vladimir Horowitz. However, this version is unable to revive the sheer brilliance of the original rhythmic and orchestral timbres, even in the interpretation of the most acclaimed international virtuosos. For this reason, long ago we asked the percussionist and composer Fabian Perez-Tedesco to try to transcribe the part of the six percussionists of the orchestral version for the two contained in the Bartok Sonata. The result was surprising: funny and exciting! A note to presenters, the programs that we are submitting are modifiable and can be mixed in order to avoid the "heaviness" of a monographic event. We remain at your disposal for any further request and we invite you to visit our website www.trevisanzaccaria.it for further updates. Our best regards, Teresa Trevisan and Flavio Zaccaria

TrevisanZaccaria Piano Duo – CD reviews ….the CD recorded by the piano duo Trevisan-Zaccaria, swimming against the stream, is very pleasant to listen to: four hands touching the keyboard gave a clear movement and a nimble phrasing to the counterpoint of the Suite op.16 and the Sei Pezzi op.94. Suono - Umberto Padroni

...a crepuscular passacaglia, a monument to the last Baroque, which consists of twenty-nine variations of exquisite workman-ship which the Trevisan-Zaccaria duo express in a learned and fresh way, exalting the intimate and troubled dimension...the writing for piano, delivered extraordinarily, in a punctual agreement and perfect harmony by the Duo is strongly anchored to an organ-orchestral praxis full of tonic-concert nuances...the duo, with intelligence and sensitiveness, expresses the bright and many sided colours which characterize this masterpiece by dipping into a dynamic palette more varied and vaster than ever. Always careful to the articulations and phrasing, the essential connecting point between organ and piano styles the duo brilliantly puts in evidence the strong relation between the 100's and the Baroque period, with great care in the recording. The pianists characterize the phrases very well, always paying attention to the ornamentation and an agogica which effectively expresses the tempo and the style of the movements... Presentazione CD - Renato della Torre

...it might happen to make several exciting discoveries about the timbre and counterpoint in these beautiful works, sometimes the instrumental colours put several details of this version in the shade...the piano timbres are very interesting, also compared with the original committed to the different instruments...it is to the pianist's great credit that they could bring to an end that hard work... CD Classica - Pietro Acquafredda

...the two pianists Flavio Zaccaria and teresa trevisan overcame the difficulties of the score...it has been an exciting surprise to rediscover the concerts..." Il Piccolo - Liliana Bamboshek

...the interpreters have expressed at the piano the completeness of an orchestra...especially in the slow movements...their ability in performing has been confirmed in the Fugue with her perfection...moments of intense emotion...very high level...particularly in the long cadenza...
