DATA TRAFFIC EVOLUTION
HIGHLIGHTS
• 2012: Internet video will surpass 50 percent of consumer Internet traffic
• 2014: One-fifth of Internet video traffic will come from TVs, handsets, and other non-PC devices
• 2015: Internet traffic from wireless devices will surpass the volume of traffic from wired devices
• 2015: There will be twice as many networked devices as people on earth.

• Requirement to move from walled garden managed IPTV infrastructure to
open internet video distribution
• Fix the Broken value chain
• Content is Regional and NOT Global Global CDN won’t work
• Users are asking for a disruptive model of Broadcast TV (over HTTP), i.e.
the SPs need to deliver the same QoS, performance, capacity and quality
of digital cable TV
• Global CDNs do not control the last mile They cannot provide the
required QoE

Customer not publicly referenceable
Asia’s leading communications group, providing fixed, mobile, data, Internet, info-communications technology, satellite and pay TV
Growing demand for OTT content increasing costs for international bandwidth
User experience suffering due to increased latency
Legacy, inefficient caching platforms consuming too much space/power
Media Flow and VXA2010 deployed as transparent caches
Caching of popular video content sites: both regional and global sites
Replacing existing underperforming competitors caches
Designed in conjunction with existing load balancers
Media Flow delivered average cache hit ratio of 37%
Delivered up to 6x throughput compared to closer competitor
Higher performance and efficiency enable reduced power costs

The world’s first and only content delivery network (CDN) purpose-built to deliver high-definition video on-demand and live streaming
Scalability of media delivery
Lack of proxy capabilities
Improve performance across BitGravity’s network as well as carrier partner TATA’s network
MFCs deployed as edge caches (reverse proxy) in different POPs worldwide
All content – media and small objects being cached at the edge by MFCs.
Significant cost savings due to reduction in delivery servers
Higher network throughput & faster response times
Significant scalability to handle unexpected peak loads

CASE STUDY—3-SCREEN DEPLOYMENT
One of the world's leading international communications companies
Large amount of content to deliver (100 TV channels - 60SD +40HD) from US to 13 Caribbean Islands
Needed a hierarchical network design, so minimum traffic came from the Caribbean islands to the Origin Site in USA
Reference design of hierarchical CDN with Media Flow Controller and Load Balancer was created by Juniper team
Media Flow Controller already worked well with Move content, and because of linear scalability, could meet the requirement of keeping 7 days worth of most popular content
Deploying in phases
The architecture is future proof, so when the customer adds more islands, they can easily be added to the hierarchical CDN
Will result in an edge datacenter footprint reduction of 10x
