SAFETY PRECAUTIONSOperator protection- ENGINEERING CONTROL OF OPERATOR EXPOSURE

must be used where reasonably practicable in addition to the following personal protective equipment:

- WEAR SUITABLE PROTECTIVE GLOVES when handling contaminated surfaces.

- WASH CONCENTRATE from skin or eyes immediately. - WASH HANDS AND EXPOSED SKIN before meals and

after work. - WHEN USING DO NOT EAT, DRINK OR SMOKE.

Environmental protection- Do not contaminate water with the product or its container. Do not clean application equipment near surface water and avoid contamination via drains

from farmyards and roads.- Extreme care must be taken to avoid spray drift onto

non-crop plants outside the target area.

Storage and disposal- KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.- KEEP AWAY FROM FOOD, DRINK AND ANIMAL FEEDINGSTUFFS.- KEEP IN ORIGINAL CONTAINER, tightly closed, in a safe place.

Water-soluble bag precautions and labelling- DO NOT TOUCH WATER SOLUBLE BAG WITH WET

HANDS OR GLOVES. - PLACE WHOLE BAG DIRECTLY INTO SPRAY TANK.- DO NOT STORE HALF BAGS OR DAMAGED BAGS.- USE IMMEDIATELY.- ENSURE ALL OTHER LABEL INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOLLOWED.

StorageLENTAGRAN WP should be stored for at least 24 hours at room temperature (18-20oC) before use.

Restrictions:- Apply only on dry crops- The temperature of the diluted spray solution and air

should be above 10°C at spraying- Overdosing (spray boom overlap) and spray drift

should be avoided

Anti-resistance strategyWeed control may be reduced if resistant strains develop to pyridate. To prevent the development of resistance, Lentagran WP should not be used continuously or as the sole method of control. Consideration should be given to alternation of products having a different mode of action (from a different chemical HRAC group) with satisfactory effi cacy against the targeted pest. Pyridate is classifi ed as belonging to HRAC Group C3.

FOLLOWING CROPSThere is no restriction on following crops after application of LENTAGRAN WP, even in crop failure situations. Soil cultivation is not necessary.

DIRECTIONS FOR USELENTAGRAN WP is a contact herbicide with no residual activity. Application should be made when all weeds have emerged, provided that the crop is within the correct stage of growth and not under stress. Best results are obtained from a fi ne spray applied whilst the weeds are small and actively growing and before the crop forms a canopy of foliage over the weeds. When the crop canopy is protecting the weeds, spray volume should be increased.

Weeds Controlled LENTAGRAN WP can be used to control the following weeds: black nightshade, cleavers and fat hen. For optimum control the weeds should be treated at the cotyledon to 4 leaf stage and when the ambient daytime temperature is above 10ºC. Do not apply during periods when night temperatures are consistently below 2°C or when day temperatures exceed 18°C.

Application

Cabbage and Brussels Sprouts Timing: Apply LENTAGRAN WP once the crop has 4 fully expanded leaves. If the crop is transplanted allow 2 weeks after planting for plants to establish. Applications should be made before the 6 leaf stage (GS 16 BBCH).A crystal violet test should be carried out to ensure the leaves have a good wax layer before applying LENTAGRAN WP. There may be some yellowing of the older leaves but this effect is no longer visible after 8 weeks and has no infl uence on yield or time of harvest. Do not apply LENTAGRAN WP in mixture with any product that can cause de-waxing of the crop leaves. Do not apply LENTAGRAN WP within 14 days of any product that causes de-waxing of the crop leaves. Optimum weed control will result if LENTAGRAN WP is applied when all the weeds have emerged. In view of the wide range of cabbage cultivars available, it is recommended that selectivity trials are conducted locally before applying LENTAGRAN WP, especially on varieties that are newly introduced. Under unfavourable conditions LENTAGRAN WP may lead to crop damage when applied at 2-4 leaf stage (cabbage) especially when the crop is not suffi ciently rooted after transplantation. The latest application timing is before the 6 leaf stage.Dose: Apply LENTAGRAN WP at 2 kg/ha.

Bulb onion Timing: A single application of LENTAGRAN WP should be applied from when the crop has 4 leaves. If the crop is transplanted allow 2 weeks after planting for plants to establish. A crystal violet test should be carried out to ensure the leaves have a good wax layer before applying LENTAGRAN WP.There may be some yellowing of the older leaves, but this effect is no longer visible after 8 weeks and has no infl uence on yield or time of harvest.

Dose: Apply LENTAGRAN WP at 2 kg/ha.

PREPARATION OF THE SPRAY SOLUTIONLENTAGRAN WP should not be creamed in a bucket but added directly to the spray tank. Half fi ll the spray tank with clean water and begin agitation. Add the required number of water soluble bags to the tank and complete fi lling. Continue agitation until spraying is completed. Thoroughly wash all spray equipment with water and a wetting agent immediately after use.

Water volume Apply in no less than 325 litres water per hectare up to 400 litres of water per hectare at a minimum pressure of 2 bar as good spray coverage is essential for effective weed control.

Spray Nozzles A FINE quality spray (as defi ned by BCPC) is preferred for application of LENTAGRAN WP. Choice of nozzle is determined by consulting manufacturer’s literature and selecting a nozzle that produces a fi ne quality spray at an output consistent with the nozzle spacing on the boom, chosen forward speed, required spray volume and operating in the range 2-3 bar.
