Monday morning not only brought a most beautiful and sunny day for us all to enjoy but also gave us an opportunity to celebrate a number of fabulous awards at our final Term Three Assembly. It was with great pleasure we announced the following:
School Captains: Tessa Gamble and Jacob Dobson House Captains: Purrumbete - Sam Hicks Manifold - Kobie Dowie Narmbool - Maddie Sheedy Strachan - Mia Pilling
Leaders: Rianna Mackay and Grace Mathieson.
Each of these students presented to their peers and teachers, an excellent speech to outline their personal achievements, why they would make an excellent leader and their goals for Term Four if they were selected for the positions.
Mr. Rowland’s Unleashing Potential Award was also presented. The Team Leaders, Miss Barr, Miss. Boyle, Miss. Bassi and Mrs. Helmore announced each recipient, giving an outline of the student’s personal attributes that assisted them in gaining this award. It is with excitement and pride we presented these awards to:
Prep - Parker Manning Juniors - Mahlia Davys Middles - Wynter Buckley
Seniors - Ivayla Gogova
The students who attended the State School Spectacular reported to the assembly the wonderful time they all had dancing and performing in this exciting event. It was fabulous to hear how they enjoyed the day and the girls presented Mrs. Orford, Miss Clutterbuck, Mrs. Bath and Miranda Orford with beautiful flowers in appreciation for all of the time, care and effort in organising and attending this event with the Mano students. We would also like to thank the parents who supported the students and staff with their positive encouragement and praise.
We welcomed our new 2016 Preps for their first transition session on Wednesday afternoon. The students attended for one hour so that they could gently ease into our routines and expectations that the school environment presents.
This leads us into the organizational aspects of planning for 2016. It is at this time we begin to look at student numbers and plan the number of classes at each year level, the specialist subjects and staffing, for the year ahead. With this in mind we would appreciate if you could let us know if you will not be returning for the new school year in 2016.
Transition is an extremely important aspect of our curriculum entering into Term Four and has proved already to be a great place to start when thinking about sorting students into classes. During the month of October we are happy to receive letters or meet with any parent who has an educational based concern/request that they wish to discuss regarding 2016 class placements. All letters and conversations will be considered when making our decisions but do not guarantee placements. The process of finding the best fit for both teachers and students across our school is always a difficult one and thus, requires lots of thought. Sometimes the reasons behind decisions made in this area are not always obvious but we can guarantee you they have always been well thought out. Please do not presume that we know/will remember what you told us in previous years. Please make sure all letters are in a sealed envelope addressed to Mr. Rowland and are
marked CONFIDENTIAL.
We remind you that it is an early finish, 2:30 on Friday as it is the end of the school term. We extend a huge thank you to all our students and parents for helping make this term such a successful and happy one. Please have a happy and safe holiday and we will see you all back on Monday October 5
th For the start of an exciting Term
Four.

Important Information re: Earn & Learn Stickers
As you know, our school has been participating in the Woolworths
Earn & Learn program. The program has now finished for this year,
so a big thanks to everyone who supported our school.
We're now at the important stage of the program where the Sticker
Sheets are collected and lodged as our Earn & Learn claim. We will
then be able to get new educational equipment for our school. The
more we collect, the more we can redeem. So this week, please
send in your Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheets and any
loose Earn & Learn stickers you may have.
Remember to check your handbag, the car glove box or they
maybe stuck on the fridge. Every little bit helps.
Thanks again for all your support!
Walking group for the Mano mums - put a spring in your step!
We will be starting a walking group next term on a Monday morning after assembly outside the multipurpose room at approximately 9:45am. For those coffee lovers we may also stop and have a coffee along the way.
For more information please contact Lynne Foot on 0412 748 021.
Thanks!
If you are paying for an excursion, please remember that we
require your child’s permission note and payment at the same
time. If you know you have a credit on your account please
write “Credit” on your child’s permission note and we will
offset the money against that excursion.
Walk to school month - October
Walk to school month begins at the start of term 4. This includes all types of active travel e.g. bike riding, skate boards, scooters and walking.
Some ideas if you usually drive to school include parking a few blocks away and walking to school or getting to school a bit early and walking some laps of the oval with parent supervision. Some places to park and walk could be Drew Reserve in Herne Hill you can walk along Hilltop Crescent then up to the Holy Spirit crossing person around Peter Lowe to Mandy, on the other side of Shannon Ave is Baker’s oval there is a school crossing
and a lollypop lady at the crossing lights near Toyworld.
Organise a meeting spot with friends and enjoy the walk to school now that Spring has arrived.
