Press ReleaseTime Warner offers area Crime Stoppers On Demand2/13/2009 5:49 PMBy: News 8 Austin Staff

Central Texans can now use their remote controls to fight crime.

Time Warner Cable, the parent company of News 8 Austin, partnered with Waco and Killeen Crime Stoppers to put Central Texas fugitive information on demand.

"We can put fugitives in, we can put crime re-enactions in, we can put crime scene footage in," Waco Crime Stoppers Coordinator Officer Steven Dieterich said. "Perhaps somebody breaks in and robs a store, and we have the footage, but we don't know who it is, we can load it up. Time Warner people can watch it.“

The video clips will feature anonymous hotline numbers for tipsters.

Killeen Daily Herald

TV program profiles local crimesBy Victor O’BrienPosted On: Thursday, Feb. 12 2009 04:28 AM A new on-demand TV program aims to bring criminals into your living room. However, it's much better than it sounds.

Killeen and Waco Crime Stoppers along with Time Warner Cable's Central Texas On Demand channel will put fugitives' faces on TV screens by airing footage of wanted fugitives in Bell and McLennan counties on Channel 200, a news release stated.

The program, which allows viewers to rewind, fast-forward and save crime footage, will be the first in Texas, Killeen police spokeswoman Carroll Smith said. If successful, it could spread.

"With Time Warner Cable's Central Texas On Demand, we're targeting the next generation of tipsters.”

- Waco Crime Stoppers coordinator Steve Dieterich
