Memorial Day Mass 9:00AM
Join us to honor all those who died serving our country in the Armed
Forces on Monday, May 25th.
Jesus said to his disciples: "When the Advocate
comes whom I will send you from the Father,
the Spirit of truth that proceeds from the Fa-
ther, he will testify to me." - John 15:26
What I love about Pentecost is that, to me, it is an invita-
tion to live within the life of God, a way of separating ourselves
from our own impulses toward sin and to look outward rather
than inward by putting God’s love at the center of our hearts. I
love this celebration of life, energy, and love even more than
Christmas!
Before the Holy Spirit came to the Apostles for the first
time, they were gathered together in the upper room of a house.
They were slowly recovering from the events of Good Friday;
they were frightened and nervous about Jesus’ promise to them,
“You will receive power when the Spirit has come upon you”.
They did not realize that Jesus had prepared them well for what
was about to happen to them. The Spirit arrived with a great
wind and with tongues of fire and their hearts were filled with
the power of the Spirit.
Because of the Holy Spirit, the apostles:
• were able to speak about their faith with boldness and
confidence and share with others what they had seen,
experienced and learned from seeing Jesus in action.
• were able to bring healing to people who were hurting.
• were able to work out disagreements by remembering
what Jesus had taught them: Blessed are the poor in
spirit, the meek and humble, the merciful, those who
hunger and thirst for what is right, those who mourn and
are able to enter into the sufferings of others, those who
are persecuted in the cause of what is right.
This same Holy Spirit has blessed St. Patrick Parish and
School over the past five years with five Neumann
Scholars. These young men have used
the Gifts of the Holy Spirit to guide
their lives and to enrich their
academic journeys.
We wish Daniel Rowe well as he begins a
new life as a freshman at The
University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!).
We pray for Stephen Anderson,
Damon Caron, and Daniel Gorman
as they continue their learning and high school careers.
We especially congratulate Michael Prieto who will begin
his high school days in September. Of the 823 students
in 8th grade who took the Neumann Scholarship test this
year, Michael scored the highest. Michael was given the
honor of reading the opening prayer at the Neumann
Scholars ceremony held at St. Joseph University.
Come, Holy Spirit!
Go Warriors!

Eucharistic Adoration
Due to the Memorial Day Holiday there will be
no Adoration and Benediction on Monday, May 25th. We will
resume our weekly Monday Adoration on Monday, June 1st.
The outpouring of those spending time before the Blessed Sacrament
during this year of celebrating 100 years of faith at St. Patrick Parish
has been overwhelming. May we continue to present
ourselves before the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
A sign up sheet will remain in the vestibule of the Church
for us to commit ourselves to spending some time before
the Lord. If you haven’t yet begun to spend some time
with the Lord on a Monday, it’s never too late to begin.
Christ with us, Christ before us, Christ behind us.

World Meeting of Families Pope Francis Speaks to Families….
Our Lady Hurries to Us
Our Lady, as soon as she had heard the news that
she was to be the Mother of Jesus and the announce-
ment that her cousin Elizabeth was expecting a child
- the Gospel says - she went to her in haste; she did not wait. She did not say, “not now I am with child; I
must take care of my health. My cousin is bound to
have friends who can care for her.” Something
stirred her and she “went in haste” to Elizabeth (Luke
1:39). It is beautiful to think this of Our Lady, of our
Mother, that she hastens because she intends to help. She goes to help; she doesn’t go to boast and tell her
cousin. “Listen, I’m in charge now, because I am the
Mother of God!” No, she did not do that. She went to
help! And Our Lady is always like this. She is our
Mother who always hurries to us whenever we are in
need. Homily, Saints Elizabeth and Zachariah Parish
