MUSIC AT METHODIST UNIVERSITYThe instrumental music program at Methodist University is a vital part of the MU community and strives to embody the concepts of Engage, Enrich, Empower. The University bands welcome students from all academic disciplines, and encourage anyone with a desire and a passion to perform music to be part of our growing instrumental music program. Explore some of the highlights of our program.

MARCHING MONARCHSThe primary purposes of this organization are to support the Methodist University football team by heightening the competitive atmosphere at football games, to reach the community by serving as ambassadors of the university, and to offer students the opportunity to develop life skills through teamwork and leadership.

CONCERT BANDThe Concert Band seeks to challenge its performers and audience through quality performances of varied literature. Designed as both a performance ensemble and a “lab band” for the music education students, the concert band performs both traditional and contemporary band literature.

THE JAZZ MONARCHSThe Jazz Monarchs afford students at Methodist University the opportunity to develop improvisational techniques and perform a variety of jazz and contemporary styles. Membership is open to instrumentalists who are seeking to enrich their experience in jazz music.

PEP BANDLike the Marching Monarchs, the pep band is a high-energy ensemble that seeks to heighten the competitive atmosphere at men’s and women’s basketball games. The pep band is comprised of electric instruments (keyboard, guitar, bass), drum set, and select wind instruments. Participation in this ensemble is limited and may require an audition.
