Contact: Ryan Sheets Marketing Manager IU Auditorium (812) 855-0640 [email protected] HAVING A BALL: RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA BRINGS ART OF STORYTELLING TO IU AUDITORIUM FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 22, 2018 BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – In conjunction with its presentation of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella February 28 and March 1, IU Auditorium will offer a number of educational outreach activities that will engage both the IU Bloomington campus and the community beyond it. Throughout each season, IU Auditorium seeks to provide a comprehensive event experience that helps the public more deeply connect with the artists and productions that grace our stage each season. Members of the press are invited to attend any and all listed activities. Pre-show talk with Dr. Brandon Barker When: Wednesday, February 28, 6:45-7:15 p.m. Where: Woodburn Hall, Room 121 (1100 E. Seventh Street) Admission: Free and open to the public Overview: Dr. Brandon Barker of the Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology will lead an exploration of the nature of cross-culturally realized narrative of Cinderella and other fairy tales and how they emphasize deep connections between the art of storytelling and what it means to be human. Post-show talk and Q&A with cast members include IU alumnae Kaitlin Mayse When: Wednesday, February 28, immediately following the performance Where: IU Auditorium Admission: Patrons in attendance at the February 28 performance Overview: Cast members from the production will take time to reflect on their experiences as professional touring artists and players in Cinderella specifically, as well as engage in a short Q&A with attendees. Participating performers include Kaitlin Mayse (a recent IU alumnae), Leslie Jackson, Corbin Williams, and Nicole Zelka.
