One person could not be half plump and half slim. Hence, there is

nothing like partly built body. It is hard to say anybody has registered impressive development of any sort when a part of the mainstream society has not yet been able to earn their living by their own. If the living standards of some portion of a country’s population, which indeed need to be considered as a half part of one’s body, has not been still improved, a holistic economic development could not be achieved no matter how extensive the efforts

being exerted to that end are. So, any person with physical challenge needs to be considered as half part of our own body. If assisted in skill acquisition, one could become self-reliant and that half part of our body could simultaneously be developed and a good proportion

of growth could be maintained. So, assisting and enabling those with physical challenges is assisting oneself. It is in assisting them to become self-reliant that we assist ourselves lest they could continue to be dependent of us, the society around them as well as dependent of the government. There are indeed a number of lessons one could learn from

people with disabilities and of which include hard work and determination as means to success. Owing to different efforts being exerted by the Eritrean people and Government, nationals with disabilities of any sort are making steady progress in improving their

living standards adhering to a principle of self-reliance. What the nationals with disabilities proved so far is a success story that has been paid off as a result of the extensive efforts they exerted to the extent they could reach. If they are to register more impressive success, however, it should not be forgotten that they need encouragement and material assistance.

This year’s world Day of Disabled has been commemorated in Eritrea for its 18th time in the view point that increasing the know-how of disabled nationals in different fields is what guarantees their future of being self-reliant. They could not only become self-reliant but they

could also make due contribution in the development drive. Present in the occasion Mrs. Salma Hassen, Minister of Labor and Human Welfare said that except mental illness, there is no disability that could hinder any person from being involved in task of any sort as is proved in the period of the struggle for independence. Thus, taking into account experiences

so far acquired, Ms. Salma said that the government of Eritrea has been working to in paving ground works alone also to enable disabled nationals become self-reliant as well as active contributors to the overall economic growth of the country.

Minister Salma also indicated that there should be nobody that feel petty of one’s disability but should rather contribute a share in enhancing one’s ability to accomplish things on the principle of self-reliance.Songs presented in the commemoratory event by visually and hearing impaired as well as other nationals with autism and Down syndrome is a clear indication of their creative ability and their readiness to accomplish anything relaying on their utmost capacity no matter how hard their disabilities are.In the event that was held on 3rd November 2013 at Expo grounds in Asmara, a documentary that showed sports activities of disabled nationals. This documentary highlights that people with disability could achieve something extraordinary be it in sports and their day-to-day activities provided that necessary encouragement and assistance is extended by individuals and concerned parties.

Self-Motive of the Disabled: Key to Self-reliance Part I

I continued my tour of Asmara’s popular book collections by visiting the Library recently christened “City Library.” Lodged between a snack shop and a pub, it is a neat, blue, one-storey structure, located just north of the Harnet&Denden Streets intersection on the same block as the Sahel Photo Studio.

As one gets closer to the premises of the Library, one is confronted by a security gate of solid steel bars. Beautiful flowers and indoor plants, however, soften the tension one may experience at this sight. The tense feelings then completely vanish as one meets the smart, silver aluminum doors, fitted to the entrance of the main physical library further on.

The inner recesses of the Library are lit by several electric bulbs. Faint daylight also disperses through some small windows. The walls exhibit cream-colored features that match the red and cream-colored tiles of the floor and its grey carpet. On all sides, the walls are lined with tall bookshelves, with other shorter ones standing at intervals in rows. A television set has been placed to one side of the entrance. A number of paintings are chiefly seen hanging around the staircase leading to the upper floor on the other side. More flowers and indoor plants are laid out at numerous points. Couches are scattered everywhere. The effect of all these, is a dreamy atmosphere that invites one to get lost in the world of literature the library accommodates.

The now “City Library” has been an Eritrean chapter of the British Council, the United Kingdom’s international education and cultural exchange center, since 1971. Its formation was part of the wider British agenda to promote and spread English culture. Accordingly, the Library’s assembly contained mainly materials for English language training and of English literature. But it also included some worthy nonfiction genres, among others, in the fields of management and business.

The former British Council Library has a special place in my memory since it was the first public Library in which I obtained membership. The site was my favorite reading place

Asmara’s Popular LibrariesPart II & FINaL

next to my elementary school library in my high school days. I especially enjoyed its audio book collections. Besides helping me to sharpen my English language skills, the audio narrations made my readings more lively and exciting. I can vividly recall once my joy at discovering the fifth book part in the Harry Potter Series, Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, among its audio book collections. The fact that the book part spawned 20 tape cassettes each an hour long only added to my thrill. Even my coming across the inoperative 17th tape hardly made a change in my mood.

According to my informant Mr. Jorjo, the present city Library was passed on from the hands of the earlier masters to Asmara Municipality at the beginning of 2012. Its prior collection had about 4,000 items. In addition to physical books, it included digital items such as audio books and video cassettes. Unfortunately, my informants at the Library told me, many of the Library’s previous valuable collections have been lost owing to the failure of the former members of the Library to return books prior to the turning over of its administration. The Library had also been offering internet services to its customers.

Currently, the City Library is undergoing a major overhaul with technical assistance from the Asmara Public Library. The physical library at the ground level is being extended by converting the previous resource room. This will increase the holding capacity of the Library from less than 100 to about 200. Efforts are also under way to put in a digital library facility alongside the existing internet resource at the top floor. In order to enhance the significance of its physical collection, about 500 books have also been added. More are expected to be brought in through purchase in the coming months.

Nevertheless, despite the ongoing refurbishments the Library still continues to make available its physical reading services between 9 A.M to 1:30 P.M, and 2:00 to 8 P.M. It is expected that the Library will begin offering full services in a month’s time. Plans are to increase opening hours by offering services between 8 A.M and 8 P.M (with a break between 1:30 P.M to 2 P.M)

all the week round. My last trip was perhaps, to

Asmara’s best collection of the latest and well-acclaimed publications of the humanities and social sciences, the PFDJ Research Library. Originally founded with the intension to serve core party members of the Popular Front for Democracy and Justice, the Library later on started offering its services to the general public as well.

I learned about the Library during the first term of my senior year in college. At that time, I was sorely wanting for some text on “Social Policy and Social Planning” which I had been taking as part of my course list for the semester. I had browsed most of the Libraries I knew, but I was not satisfied. A friend then suggested to me that I try the PFDJ Research Library. And to say the least, I was gratified. I then immediately became a member of the Library. Throughout the second term of my senior year and the proceeding summer, I was a regular visitor of the Library. Even though my reading habit had been fully engaged by the resources of the mini-library I discovered at my place of work for the duration of my community service, the PFDJ Research Library still keeps the top place in my list of chosen reading collection. My present plans are, to renew my membership card as soon as the Library resumes its membership services in the New Year.

The PFDJ Research Library is located in the headquarters of the Popular Front for Democracy and Justice, on the vicinity of Nakfa House. It is lodged in a wooden building on the higher grounds of the site, which is reached after passing the front gate, turning sharply left, and climbing a series of small flights of steps. The actual Library is nestled in the second room to the left, on entering from the front door of the wooden building. The Library’s space is rather limited, probably ten meters long and three and half meters wide.

The Library is open on weekdays (Monday through Friday) from 8:00 to 11:45 in the morning and 2:00 to 5:45 in the afternoon. Most users of the Library however are visiting clients that prefer to borrow books for reading elsewhere, due to its small size. The Library cannot host more than ten customers at any one time.

According to Mr. Tesfaldet, who has been employed there as a Librarian since 2008, the number of the library’s customers has been increasing rapidly. The clients of the library come from different places. Most of the clients are professionals in different occupations, college students and researchers. Most of its visitors are also avid readers.

The PFDJ Research Library is a must-visit in that its content is

constantly updated and comprises of the most celebrated publications in the social sciences and humanities. Collections are selected and imported by the head office of the Research and documentation Center of the PFDJ, on the basis of the preferences of the Library’s customers. The Library has also a rich periodical section. It maintains subscriptions of the world’s most outstanding periodical publications, among which are Middle-East, New Africans, Foreign Affairs, National Geographic, The Economist, and Times. There is a concern, however, as periodical publications are increasingly being offered only in digital formats, some of these will no longer be available in their physical versions.

The Library currently contains over 6,000 collections. Most of its genres are in the humanities and social sciences. Some of its nonfiction genres include politics, history, biographies, autobiographies, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, education, law, management, and economics. It has an impressive assembly of fiction books particularly classics too. Moreover, the Library’s assemblage has been properly catalogued into an electronic database system with a search facility.

The greater percentage of the Library’s collection is English, with Tigrigna and few Arabic publications. The Tigrigna section of the Library consists of the latest publications and includes all books produced by the Hidri Printing Press.

The library is unique in that it offers membership and its benefits to the general public free of charge. The criteria for Library membership are the ability to provide a sponsor (one employed in a public institution and who could be contacted in case where the actual member could not be reached), the ability to take good care of borrowed items and return them in time, and the provision of some personal information such as name and address. Even people from areas outside Asmara are qualified to obtain library membership if they meet the above mentioned criteria. For example, the Library often cooperates with students in far-flung academic colleges.

Members normally borrow books

for fourteen days. The borrowing period however can be extended by making a phone call for another fourteen days. Delays in returning books can have serious consequences that range from mild warnings to cancelation of Library membership. Nevertheless, the majority of the Library’s users are well-disciplined, conscious book lovers that follow the Library’s regulations strictly.

A month or so before New Year, the Library annually halts its borrowing services in order to make an inventory of its collections. This gives the Library a breathing space in which to thoroughly inspect the arrangement of its assembly and to determine any losses that it might have incurred during its circulation phase. To enhance the life span and tidiness of its books, the Library also makes an extra cost of laminating its procurements before setting them on shelves.

While I was on the same premises, I ventured to a sister mini-digital Library on the next door to the PFDJ Research Library. Although the staff at the facility told me modestly that “it is a humble place growing slowly,” my personal experience has shown me that it is a valuable spot that must not be missed.

The PFDJ Digital Mini-Library comprises of hundreds of gigabytes of data that include e-books, audio books, and video items. The genre of its collection is wide, consisting of both fiction and nonfiction. Its video collection also includes a great deal of documentaries and educational materials. The facility makes its services available to the general public. People can obtain copies of reading and audio-visual items free of charge if they visit with retrieval devices.

My excursion around Asmara’s most popular libraries has proven to me the significance of the available reading collections in the city. Their content and constitution can accommodate the needs and demands of all kinds of readers. The reading atmosphere they offer for their visitors is also admirable. All that is required from prospective customers is, to have a thirst for knowledge and a respect for the printed and non-printed materials under their protection.

This will make you a disciple, one in which ridiculing and rejecting the truth and despising people have no place into your mind. Truth will disdain pride. Spirits of clean, clear, beautiful and hand-some sublime will shower into your heart. Wherever you are the follower of this, it will substitute a bad deed with a good one and it will wipe it out, and you will be-have well towards people.

The gentlest nature and the no-blest lineage will be for no more but for you. This will lead you toward greater thoughtful and contemplative, serene and mag-nificent person. The strangers will be fascinated from the distance. They sooner will become an in-timate with you. This fascination

will change into attachment and respect throughout your life. Your expression will be very sweet and distinct. The speech you deliver will be well set and free from the use of superfluous words. Avoid delays. Do it now. Positively you will get it.

A sound has heard inside the holes of my ear. A hum of sweet sound originates from brown coloured bird. The colour of the bird adds vigour and vitality to her whistle. It was a call, which wakes up me from my dreams during the early morning. Unlike the other days, I forgot to see the watch hanged on my wall. The whistle of the bird informs me the exact time to awaken from my bed. For-tunately, it is a time to shift from the comfort of vast oceanic hemi-sphere, where speaking or acting with an impure mind was taken as normal trait.

The shifting signals an endless

pleasure where happiness be-comes a permanent state of real-ity. It allows me to follow up as my shadow, as an unshakable and supportable event to the change I made nearby. It dispels hate. As a result it attracts love. Inaugura-tions are there. Filling the empty mind is rated the first. Conquering the self, the hell with the heaven, the demons with angels, the loss with victory, the hatred with love and the impurity with purity ...

many more others become the concerns that are given in this re-gard.

The long travelled river self hasn’t brought any change upon me. It only fulfils self-dams, the self-lakes, the self-seas and above all the self-oceans. Beyond that it hasn’t moved further as what I am rejoicing now. They have never influenced the secrets of my in-ner self. As a result I failed to use them well to honor those in my life that make a grand difference – as my best wishes! Now I dare to say that, my inner self has affected eternity, and I can never tell where its’ influence stops.

Soon the night dew-droplet nocks the door of the inner self;

the self has moved up to plant the jungles of lost tradition to irrigate the desert with tolerance and to activate the mind with magnets of curiosity, knowledge, and wisdom. In a little while, ability emerges. The self has developed adequate tools to accomplish impossible task. The dream begins. Filtration that pushes and that leads to the next plateau has welcomed my reference garden.

Being accompanied with attrac-

tive colour, possessing a can do at-titude, the self will make you a man who can see the fruit of your day’s work. You will build up a thought that can react. The reaction is very critical. It can think and it can re-spond. You will no more be with cynics and sceptics. You will not inspire self-distrust. Instead, you will be a master of simplification and an enemy of simplism. Toler-ance is there. Patience is above all. It respects difference. It will have a focus of divine future. It will treat diversity as blessing. It is being as proactive as reactive. No fear and worry. You have developed a way to think using the heart. Adjusting the action step is a milestone that leaps you from being a mediocre to being superior man. This is the time that you can start to develop your own image. Then you will re-alize there will always be rocks in the road ahead of you to achieve the goal.

You seldom will fall into err. Because you’re becoming more cautious with the subject you meet. In addition to that, you have developed an imaginative and cre-ative ability to value your life as a human being. You’re approaching a time to redouble your happiness. Celebrate it. A sweet shine of con-tentment will stream from your inner being. This will help you in keeping peace and good relations among people, so as you will ad-here to concepts that quarrelling and bad feelings destroy mankind. Attaining the best riches, which are the riches of the soul, will start from here.

Being entangled with colour of ink scholar performance some-times will make you far from the aforementioned events. It may

Freire: an Influential The-orist of Critical

PedagogyPaulo Reglus Neves Freire (September

19, 1921 – May 2, 1997) was a Brazilian educator and influential theorist of criti-cal pedagogy. His familiarity with pover-ty and hunger in the 1930s influenced his decision to dedicate his life to improving the lives of the poor.

Freire enrolled at Law School at the University of Recife in 1943. He also studied philosophy, more specifically phenomenology, and the psychology of language. Although admitted to the Law Attorneys of Brazil, he never actu-ally practiced law but instead worked as a teacher in secondary schools teaching Portuguese. He played an influential role in a number of educational organizations and universities by applying his princi-ples. In 1962 he had the first opportunity for significant application of his theories, when 300 sugarcane workers were taught to read and write in just 45 days. In re-sponse to this experiment, the Brazilian government approved the creation of thousands of cultural circles across the country. Freire worked in many reform movements and organizations. In 1967, Freire published his first book, Education as the Practice of Freedom. He followed this with his most famous book, Peda-gogy of the Oppressed, first published in Portuguese in 1968. On the strength of reception of his work, Freire was of-fered a visiting professorship at Har-vard University in 1969. The next year, his book was published in both Spanish and English, vastly expanding its reach. Freire has made a global impact by his theoretical contributions like Banking Model of Education, student-teacher du-alism and Culture of Silence. In 1991, the Paulo Freire Institute was established in São Paulo to extend and elaborate upon his theories of popular education. At his death, Freire was working on a book of Ecopedagogy, a platform of work carried on by many of the Freire Institutes and Freirean Associations around the world today.

You are the best breastplateA life solider should wearWith unparalleled power And unbreakable oath,

You are the muscles of my greater strengthSo, come to me before sunrise

I need you too, after sunsetIn the times of my extreme solitude

When I can feel your presence That is the right time, I say

You shall stay, along my way, Expanding from within

The middle of sunset and sunrise Be, my MIDNIGHT AROMA

That fills the apartment of my spirit. In my extreme excitement

You are the substanceAt the very kernel of my enlightenment

You are my inhale, my exhale That keeps me going well

Undeniable, though I hardly see your appearanceApart from the light touches

And shielded surface brushes Range of your aroma so diminutiveStill, I haven’t felt your wholenessDon’t you see I need you more?

To wear you like an armourThen, Filled with endless courage

I would face any challenge Familiar OR strangeIn the path I crawl.

Now, don’t let me be foolish Like a curious hunter,

Who dashes to the middle of the forest, At the darkest hour.My SHREWDNESS,

In pursuit of the depth of your heart I want to be wise

I want to wait you in patience.Otherwise,

If you were truly here OR there, Like what I say, I would rush

High from above the clouds I would fly;Low into the depth of the OceansI would swim, like a skilled diver

I would haste, to penetrate into your coreBut, you wouldn’t be visible

Nor reachable,Unless it was YOUR WILL,

Unless you decide to come near, I wouldn’t dare to go anywhere?

While you might be around, I know, I wouldn’t be aware.

So, MY ACUMEN, come!Like the aroma,

Aroma of the breeze of the seaOut of pure natural prophecy.

Look my barenessFill me in wholeness

Fill, upon my body, my soul, And my spirit

Let my lightness exitMy heaviness persist

Then, I shall be fair, true and rightIn the fight I fight

So, fit into me in exactitudeWithout you, I can’t stand

Fill me in wholenessLet my odour be fairness

Let me free myself Out of the abyss of ignorance

Of the circles of my immaturities; My ASTUTENESS

Now, I know you know itLead me the way out

Let me reflect my significanceIn the slice of my existence!!!

Advice for Aspiring Writers

Looking for words of wisdom about writing a book? These published au-thors have some encouragement to help you on your way.

“After I finished The Bluest Eye, which took me five years to write, I went into a long period of…not deep depression but a kind of melancholy. Then I had another idea for a book, Sula, where I was trying to write about real friendship between women—and the whole world came alive again. Ev-erything I saw or did was potentially data, a word or a sound or something for the book, and then I really realized that for me writing meant having something coherent in the world. And that feels

like…not exactly what I was born for, it’s more the thing that holds me in the world in healthy relationship, with lan-guage, with people, bits of everything filter down, and I can stay here.”

— Toni Morrison“Writing is in some way being able

to sit down the next day and go through everything you wanted to say, finding the right words, giving shape to the im-ages, and linking them to feelings and thoughts. It isn’t exactly like a social conversation because you aren’t giving information in the usual sense of the word or flirting or persuading anyone of anything or proving a point; it’s more that you are revealing something whole

in the form of a character, a city, a mo-ment, an image seen in a flash out of a character’s eyes. It’s being able to take something whole and fiercely alive that exists inside you in some unknowable combination of thought, feeling, physi-cality, and spirit, and to then store it like a genie in tense, tiny black symbols on a calm white page. If the wrong reader comes across the words, they will re-main just words. But for the right read-ers, your vision blooms off the page and is absorbed into their minds like smoke, where it will re-form, whole and alive, fully adapted to its new environment. It is a deeply satisfying feeling.”

Bethlhem Teame

This is the heart that has managed to remain a mystery for so many and over time; no scholar or a well-established researcher has managed to catch upon its essence or its quintessence for that matter. Many have tried and failed unable to reach the depth of a woman’s heart. It is a beautiful mystery that keeps us all enthralled and fascinated. It is a heart that, despite its depth and mystification, has spread love and kindness to the tenants of this world. It is also the heart that has taught us to love and beloved in return.

Have you ever thought how the world would be and look like if it was just inhabited only by Adam or that many Adams were multiplied somehow and filled the face of the earth?

Yeah! You got that right; it will be this cold place. As cold as the tomb haunted by ghost feelings of love, joy and other emotions. One shudders just thinking of it.

Hey, I am not denying the fact that the other section of the human species’ possession of the qualities of sensibility but only pinpointing that this sensibility is usually dormant or is stifled deep down and that women are the ones who activate these dormant emotions and feelings. Thus I am not ignoring the fact that a man owns a heart too, but a man’s heart needs a partner heart that can teach him to love, feel and experience a number of emotions. Consciously or unconsciously a man’s heart is out and about in search of a heart partner that will be able to activate all the pent-up emotions he has buried deep down so masterfully. On the other hand a woman’s heart is filled with a sea of compassion, sympathy, love, kindness and gentleness and she can’t bury these feeling down for they are vast and as such she extends it to everyone around. The creator, in his magnificent ability has thought and planned perfectly on balancing the equilibrium of the human race by installing both sets of characteristics (the soft and the tough) in his work of arts. So the man cruises through life displaying machismo and exaggerated sense of masculinity which by the way emphasizes behaviors that are conventionally considered as male qualities such

as strength, courage, stamina, and last but not least lack of emotional response and the world expects nothing less from him. But the woman with her soft heart and nature fills in what the man lacks. She teaches love and patience to the world of cynics. Shimmering with softness and kindness a woman makes this world a better place to live in. And in coming together both genders complement each other’s shortcomings, I don’t think it was ever in the intention of the creator to prefer or top one over the other.

Have you ever wondered how the world would function without the existence of love and kindness? Do you think there will even be a world to talk about in the first place? It is love that has tolerated over all the ugliness of life and the crimes of wicked intentions. So what can spring love better than a woman’s heart? Love has taught us to forgive each other and accept each other and we all know that sentiments of mercy are in unison with a woman’s heart. Can a man declare that he is crazy in love without having found a woman that makes me to react as such, can he do all these things a man in love does without a woman’s heart provoking such actions from him?

“No woman no cry” once sang Bob Marley and a lot of people have their own version of translation for this particular song. Although some have chosen to believe that women are the cause of every pain and misery in life thus by deduction there would have not been the word cry if women were not created at all; thus no woman no cry, I ,however, have chosen to translate this song in my own terms of understanding and frame of mind. But before I proceed with my reasoning I want to challenge the above mentioned version of translation of this particular song. For argument sake, let’s just say that women are responsible for all the miseries in life and that’s what he meant by no woman no cry- if there were no woman there will be no crying of any form. But haven’t we ever cried out of joy and happiness in life for reasons that have nothing to do with a woman or women? I have seen a man crying a river after returning to his hometown after 20 years in exile. He bow

A woman’s heart

down and kissed the land he loves so much and dearly as tears of joy and other unidentified emotions took over him. I have seen a man shedding tears on a death of a family, brother or father. So women can’t possibly be the cause of every crying sound in life. We should know that sometimes the soul has this intriguing habit of wallowing on its own will and accord and this in turn fills the heart with sadness so we usually shed few tears of self-pitying and no woman is to be blamed for this. This is to say that all of us shed tears now and then for causes that have nothing to do with women. And as so I have this feeling that Marley was trying to narrate the sensitivity and sensibility of a woman to the world; that the world and its tenants wouldn’t get in touch with their pent-up emotions that are deep down if it wasn’t for the women down through time who have taught us to express our emotions and feelings. Not because they are the cause of every misery in life but because they have made us a better citizen of this life unlike those robots and machines that can’t experience any form of emotions or unable to express feelings. Thus a woman is the savior that has taught us to get in touch with the sensitivity within us.

I am not trying to pain a woman as a saint or holier-than-thou but we all know deep down that this is true and we have witnessed her kind heart starting from our mothers. Remember she cried

her eyes out when you were hurt and has suffered as much when you were in pain? She has prayed and demanded that she suffers on your behalf. She has prayed that the heavens punish her instead. How about the times she saw a motherless child crying on the streets, didn’t she break into tears till she was beyond consolation? Her heart reaches out for anyone in distress. It is a kind and vulnerable heart that welcomes everyone into its chambers, and trust me the world has come to be a better place to live in because of it. It has cured and soothed a lot of hearts. It has endured everything but still has managed to love and care again.

A woman’s heart is most beautiful when it caught amidst a love affair. Then it feeds love and receives love- that’s probably the only time it receives back love from the other end for her heart always extends love and kindness unconditionally. This heart loves abundantly with no holding back. When this heart loves it loves genuinely and wholly, it feeds and waters pure love. Haven’t you heard about the healing power of a woman’s heart? Her love can heal and mend a broken heart. And when she loves, she loves with all her whole heart holding nothing back. She opens her heart and feeds her pure love. Love comes naturally for her and that’s why she feels it deeper than the man. The love punch gets straight to her head and her whole being, she looks out of the window and admire the sight before her. Suddenly

the sky seems cloudless, the stars bigger and brighter and that the heavenly bodies are smiling down at her. She smiles a lot and feeds love to everyone around. When she is really in love we all feel the love, the atmosphere is filled with love and we all can sense it in the air. It is also a courageous heart; one that never backs down. I have seen women raising up from ashes to become somebody, those woman who have built a great name for themselves, those women who were told they don’t have what it takes to climb the ladder of success but who have proven the world wrong.

I have heard a lot of men confessing out laud about their inability to reach the depth of a woman’s heart. The routine observation by most men is that “wow, you can never find her heart”. But her heart is there and it was never lost to be found, it is just that no one can reach its depth. We can find a woman’s heart, it is its depth that we can’t find and I think this very reason should make a woman’s heart more beautiful and fascinating. But by nature, we, human beings have the tendency to doubt what we can’t fully understand or grasp and that’s why most men talk negatively when the topic of their discussion involves a women’s heart. However, we can talk about it and many books and scholars also could try discussing it but we can never measure its depth nor can we guess its extent. We all know that it will remain to be a mystery; a beautiful mystery.

South Africa’s anti-apartheid hero and former president Nelson Mandela has passed away at age 95 in his Johannesburg home, South African President Jacob Zuma has announced.

In a somber statement on South African national television on Thursday night, Zuma said Man-dela had “departed” and was “at peace”. “Our nation has lost its greatest son.”

Mandela, who led South Africa’s transition from white-minority rule in the 1990s after nearly three decades in prison, was one of the towering political figures of the 20th century.

“Our people have lost a father. Although we knew that this day would come, nothing can diminish our sense of a profound and endur-

Uganda’s parliament has given iP-ads to all MPs at a cost of $370,000 (£230,000), saying it will make them more efficient.

Parliamentary commissioner Em-manuel Dombo says it means MPs can access official documents while travel-ling.

He also said the funds had been gen-erated by reducing the budget for pa-per, which would no longer be needed.

However, the BBC’s Patience Atu-haire in Kampala says it has been criti-cised by many Ugandans as a waste of

Researchers say that some mon-keys in South and Central America eat as many as 50 different species of fruit a day.

A team from the University of East Anglia said that primate size and diet are closely connected.

They found that mid-sized spe-cies including Saki monkeys were the biggest fruit consumers.

dom earned him the respect of the world. His humility, his com-passion and his humanity earned him their love. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mandela fam-ily. To them, we owe a debt of gratitude. Our thoughts are with his wife, his former wife, with his children, his grandchildren, his great grandchildren and the entire family,” he added.

Mandela had been receiving home-based medical care for a lung infection after three months in hospital. He had been suffering from chronic respiratory condi-tions, probably due to the fact that he contracted tuberculosis in prison years ago.

“Our thoughts are with the mil-lions of people across the world who embraced Nelson Mandela as their own and who saw his cause as their cause. This is the moment of our deepest sorrow,” the South African president stated.

“What made Nelson Mandela great was precisely what made him human. We saw in him what we

seek in ourselves,” Zuma said.Mandela served as president of

South Africa from 1994 to 1999, and was the first South African president to be elected in a fully representative democratic election.

After years of resistance against apartheid rule in South Africa, Mandela was arrested in 1962. He was sentenced to life in prison, where he served over 27 years. He spent many of those years on Rob-ben Island.

Following his release from pris-on on February 11, 1990, Mandela led the African National Congress party in the negotiations that led to multi-racial democracy in 1994. As president, he frequently gave prior-ity to reconciliation. He left office in 1999 after serving one term as president.

In South Africa, Mandela is often known as Madiba, his clan name, or as tata, which means father.

Mandela received more than 250 awards over four decades, includ-ing the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize.

Seen as South Africa’s moral compass, the highly revered leader announced his retirement from public life in 2004, but continued to make a few public appearances.

The research has been published in the journal Oikos.

The scientists pulled together data from 290 studies of diets in primates in Central and South America spanning 42 years.

They found a clear relationship between animal size and dietary preferences.

Small monkeys such as marmo-sets and tamarins eat more insects and less fruit.

But as body size increases so does the preference for juicier foods. Species like Saki monkeys can eat between 45 and 50 species of fruit every day, often consum-ing their “five a day” in a hour of foraging.

Larger animals including Howl-er monkeys and Woolly Spider monkeys preferred leaves and fo-liage.

money.“Taxpayers are already paying too

much to take care of their MPs,” op-position MP Semujju Ibrahim Nganda told the BBC’s Focus on Africa pro-gramme.

Mr Dombo described it as an “ad-ministrative decision”.

Last year, MPs voted to increase their salaries by 38% - to more than $8,000 a month.

The 375 lawmakers have also been given more than $41,000 each to buy a car.

It also generates fraudulent ad clicks on infected computers then claims payouts from duped adver-tisers.

Also called Sirefef botnet, Ze-roAccess, has infected two million computers.

The botnet targets search results on Google, Bing and Yahoo search engines and is estimated to cost on-line advertisers $2.7m (£1.7m) per month.

Microsoft said it had been autho-rised by US regulators to “block incoming and outgoing communica-tions between computers located in the US and the 18 identified Internet Protocol (IP) addresses being used to commit the fraudulent schemes”.

In addition, the firm has also tak-en control of 49 domains associated with ZeroAccess.

David Finn, executive director of Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit, said the disruption “will stop victims’ computers from being used for fraud and help us identify the computers that need to be cleaned of the infec-tion”.

The ZeroAccess botnet relies on waves of communication between groups of infected computers, in-stead of being controlled by a few servers.

This allows cyber criminals to control the botnet remotely from a range of computers, making it dif-ficult to tackle.

According to Microsoft, more than 800,000 ZeroAccess-infected computers were active on the inter-net on any given day as of October this year.

“Due to its botnet architecture, ZeroAccess is one of the most robust and durable botnets in operation to-day and was built to be resilient to disruption efforts,” Microsoft said.

However, the firm said its latest action is “expected to significantly disrupt the botnet’s operation, in-creasing the cost and risk for cyber criminals to continue doing busi-ness and preventing victims’ com-puters from committing fraudulent schemes”.

Microsoft said its Digital Crimes Unit collaborated with the US Fed-eral Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Europol’s European Cyber-crime Centre (EC3) to disrupt the operations.

Earlier this year, security firm Sy-mantec said it had disabled nearly 500,000 computers infected by Ze-roAccess and taken them out of the botnet.

The authorities stated that the radio-active material had been removed from its container, add-ing that anyone who

opened the consignment could die within days.

Mexico’s National Commission for Nuclear Safety and Safeguards (CNSNS) said the family was near the radioactive material.

“We will have to keep this fami-ly under medical watch for the sole reason of being near a certain dis-tance from the source,” said CN-

SNS operations director Mardonio Jimenez, without specifying how many people were in the family.

He added that it was the first time that such material was stolen and taken out from its container.

“The person or people who this took out are in very great risk of dying,” Jimenez predicted.

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mexican authorities notified the IAEA that a truck transporting a “dangerous radioactive source” used for medical treatment was “stolen” on Monday.

The IAEA said that the material was “extremely dangerous” if re-moved from its shielding while ex-perts said the 60 grams of cobalt-

60 inside it was enough to manu-facture a “dirty bomb.”

The UN agency said that the 60 grams of material “would be likely to cause permanent injury to a per-son who handled it or who was oth-erwise in contact with it for more than a few minutes.”

“It would probably be fatal to be close to this amount of unshielded radioactive material for a period in the range of a few minutes to an hour,” it said.
