Consolidating Gmail Accounts

Part 1Setting Up Sending

•Within Gmail click the cog symbol in the top right hand corner.

• Select Settings from the drop down menu

• From within the settings menu click “Accounts and Import”

•Under “Send mail as” click “Add another email address that you own”

• A box will pop up. Enter in your name and full RPS email address

•Uncheck the box next to “Treat as an alias”

•Click “Next Step”

•Click the button for “Send through richmond.k12.va.us SMTP servers”

• For SMTP server enter “smtp.gmail.com

• For username use your full email address and password

•Click the button for “Secured connection using TLS”

•Click Add Account

•Check your RPS email for an email from Google with an eight digit verification code.

• Enter the code in the box.

•Click “Verify”

•Once you click verify the box will close and you will be back in “Accounts”

•Under “When replying to a message:” select “Reply from the same address the message was sent to”

•When sending a NEW message make sure you select the correct email address to send it from.

Part IISetting Up Receiving

•Within your RPS email click the cog symbol in the top right hand corner.

• Select Settings from the drop down menu

• From within the settings menu click “Accounts and Import”

•Under “Forwarding” click “Add a forwarding address”

• A box will pop up. Enter in the address you want your mail forwarded to and then click “Next”

•Confirm the forwarding address by clicking “Proceed”

•On the next screen click “Ok”

• Sign in to your personal Gmail account and either click the link to confirm the link request or copy and paste the eight digit confirmation code and click “Verify”

• Exit out of settings and then go back in and click the Forwarding tab again. Select the button for “Forward a copy of incoming mail to...”

• Scroll to the bottom and click “Save changes”

A Few Last Things•Make sure that when you reply to RPS

emails or send new RPS emails that you’re sending from the correct address

•Since you have forwarded your work email to your personal account (versus the other way around) rest assured that RPS cannot snoop on your personal email.
