Home Group HomeworkFor the week of August 21, 2016
GETTING TO KNOW ME: • What is the thing you complain about most in your life?
• What is the thing you say thank you for most in your life?
REVIEW:What stood out to you from the weekend’s message?
DIGGING DEEPER:God wants us to be thankful. More than that, God has given us much to be thankful for in every area of life. It might not be easy to recognize this truth in certain moments but it is a truth we should keep with us every day of our lives. Read: Psalm 71:1-24
1. Would you describe yourself as a thankful person? (Would those close to you describe you the same way?)
2. Weknowtherearebenefitstobeingthankful, howwouldbeingmore thankful improve you personally?
August 20–21, 2016
The homework is now available to do and save on the MPCC App! Click: Connect – Adults – Home Groups – Date (of homework)
3. Do you have to “feel” thankful in order to be thankful? (Explain your answer)
4. Whatisthedifferencebetweenthewaythoseoutsideof Godarethankful and those who know Jesus as their savior are thankful?
5. God created you just as He wanted you to be yet so many of us are not happy with who we are. How can you take steps this week to be thankful for who you are right now?
Read: Romans 8:18-25 6. How does this passage relate to Psalm 71?
(For help look at verse 20)
7. We should live life in the present, thankful for what God has given us now. How can we strike a balance between learning from the past and preparing for the future that doesn’t keep us from being thankful today?
APPLICATIONThis week’s application comes in the form of two challenges:
Challenge 1: Every time you complain about something this week immediatelyfindsomethingtobethankfulfor(trynottorepeatyourself)
Challenge 2: Find 100 things to be thankful for in your life and write them all down.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
