What’s New at Greyhound?
• Greyhound network restructuring is now complete: the remaining system is sound and stable
• Significant technology improvements have simplified online ticketing, allowed selling systems upgrades, introduced mobile app
• FMCSA has clarified & made simpler operating authority
• Greyhound has improved its fleet: new seating, 3-pt. seat belts, free on-board WiFi, electrical outlets
• Seating is now reserved and guaranteed
What is Connecting with Greyhound?
•This partnership is open to public, tribal transit and non-profit systems that operate regularly scheduled fixed-route services.
•Connecting with Greyhound allows an “interline” of schedules with Greyhound.
•Select route schedules are identified to make “meaningful” scheduled connections with Greyhound services.

• A common connection point, and route schedule(s) that meet at this connection point (transit center, intermodal center etc.) is identified.
• The partnership can be for a single route, or multiple routes that serve a common connection point.
• The partnership can also include options to be a ticket agent and parcel carrier for Greyhound Parcel Express (GPX).

What is the criteria to be a partner?
• Operate scheduled, fixed-route service at a minimum six(6) days a week.
• Routes connect with Greyhound services at a common point, such as a transit center, intermodal center, train station or ferry terminal.
• Have ability and willingness to market the ‘Greyhound Connect’ logo at transit centers, and on-line.

What are the advantages to Connecting with Greyhound?
The Advantages: –Carrier can be reimbursed for each transferring Greyhound
passenger at a negotiated flat rate. –Carrier will have their schedules, service and fare at a wider exposure at a national and industry level.–Passengers will have “seamless” ticketing and itinerary.–Transferring passengers will have reserved seats on Greyhound/national intercity bus carriers.–Greyhound can sponsor membership in the National Bus Traffic Association (NBTA). –If partner carrier decides to be a ticket agent, additional revenues earned through ticket sales and parcel freight commission.

How long does this process take?
• Typically, from contract negotiations start to service start date, the implementation process is 90-180 business days.
• There are issues that could delay the process and implementation.
• Service start date should incorporate a realistic timeline to accommodate implementation process and consider potential delays.

•Bus carrier receives exposure throughout North America through interline agreement. Becomes a part of the national intercity network.
•Additional revenue through flat fee reimbursements, or ticket sales commissions and parcel express shipping.

The service connects with specific unsubsidized schedules. In this case, the connecting schedule is between Spokane and The Dalles (en route to Portland)

• WSDOT contracts for two daily round trips between Kettle Falls and Spokane.
• The grant amount generally covers most or all of the deficit to the provider
• The service makes stops at 10 intermediate communities, and connects to transportation hubs at the Spokane intermodal and the Spokane Airport.
