• Following the instructions within your Survey Configuration, TopSURV will automatically:– Power on the internal modem OR start Bluetooth connection to an

external cell phone– Send commands to the modem to connect to the Internet

– Connect to your Real Time GNSS Network server– Use the same Mount Point that was used last

• Once field work is completed and if TopSURV is closed, the modem will also automatically be shut down. Same as above, but in reverse order.

• Once on the Internet, the next step in the process is to connect to the public Internet Protocol (IP) Address and Port Number of the Real Time GNSS Network server that you are using.

• Afterwards, the NTRIP User Name and Password will be sent from you to the server.

• If the User Name and Password are correct and current, then the Real Time GNSS Network server will begin sending your rover receiver corrections.

• Once the rover receiver has an Internet connection, in order to become a member of a Real Time GNSS Network, you will need to know the:– Internet Protocol (IP) Address– Port Number

• …of the Real Time GNSS Server that you are working with.

• A sample of entering an IP Address and Port number into a TopSURV Survey Configuration is:

• Make sure the slash ( / ) is correct.

What is a Mount Point? What is a Mount Point?Connecting to a Real Time GNSS Network with TopSURV

• Type of Correction Service:– Real Time Kinematic (RTK) – Single vector from nearest reference

station to the rover. Survey grade solution.– Network RTK (NetRTK) – Data from all reference stations are used to

create a virtual base station near the rover. Survey grade solution.– Differential GPS (DGPS) – Ideal for hand held or back pack receivers

to achieve sub-foot solutions in real time.

• Correction Format:– Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services (RTCM)– Compact Measurement Record (CMR+)

Mount Points

Sample Mount Point Name = NetRTK_RTCM3

Definition of Mount Point Name = Type of Service ; Correction Format

• Once you are connected to the GNSS Network server, you then need to specify which correction service that you want from it.

What is NTRIP?What is NTRIP?Connecting to a Real Time GNSS Network with TopSURV

• NTRIP is an acronym for Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol.

• When you think of NTRIP, think of security.

• Your NTRIP User Name and Password is issued to you by your GNSS Network Manager.

• It is a method of controlling who is on the network, when, and where.

• The rover receiver must be able to receive corrections from the base / reference station. If the rover receiver is not able to receive corrections, you will have an Autonomous Position solution type.

• If the project area does not have cell phone coverage, that would be an ideal place for a mobile base receiver with a broadcasting radio.

• As soon as the rover has 100% Radio Link, it’s Position Type will change to Float.

• Once Initialized Satellites count is five or greater, the receiver’s Position Type will update to Fixed.
