Ofcom’s Strategic Direction:

1. A strategic shift to large scale investment in more fibre

2. To reduce the UK’s dependency on Openreach

Government’s Policy Direction:

1. Positions full fibre and 5G at the heart of the UK’s Industrial Strategy & Digital Strategy

2. £1.1b of support to full fibre & 5G initiatives

• £740m from the National Productivity Investment Fund:

• £400m Digital Infrastructure Investment Fund – match funded to become £800m+

3. Initiatives to encourage local government support full fibre initiatives:

• £200m (of the £740m) announced in the 2017 Budget to support local full fibre initiatives
