It’s tax time! Our Community Volunteer Income Tax Preparation Clinics are FREE and open to low-income seniors (Single person: Up to
$30,000; Couple: Up to $40,000).
Book your appointment by calling 604.732.0812 or at Reception. Clinics start February 15, 2017.
Clinic dates: Wednesdays, 1:00-4:00pm Thursdays, 1:00-4:00pm
Remember to bring your tax information slips and receipts. Volunteers need them to prepare your income tax and benefit return. Volunteers
are not able to prepare complex returns, such as returns for individuals who have self-employment/business income, have capital
gains or losses, file for bankruptcy, or are deceased.

Enjoy a screening of The Jungle Book (2016), which tells the story of Mowgli, an orphaned human boy who, guided by his animal guardians, sets out on a journey of self-discovery.

Seniors Create Project Filming Day 12:30-5:00pm, FREE Past participants of the Seniors Create Project (as well as interested non-participants) are invited to share and have their stories about growing older filmed by the project’s videographer. Filmed stories will be shared at the project’s final presentation on January 24th. Each participant coming to share their stories on filming day will receive a $10 gift card to either Starbucks or Safeway.

EXERCISE
Stretch and Strength This class focuses on gentle stretches that help with relaxa�on, relieving tension, and maintaining your range of mo�on. It also features gentle strength exercises that target the upper and lower body to increase strength and overall fitness.

Walking Club Let’s walk together to get fit! Walking is a great cardiovascular exercise that works your en�re body. Walking can reduce the risk of hip fractures, stroke, and heart disease, and protect the brain against memory loss. Our walking club offers various 1-hour walks in the neighbourhood for individuals of all skill levels.

Osteo-Arthri�s Fit Taught by an accredited instructor, this class is a BC Women’s Hospital cer�fied falls preven�on program for individuals with osteoporosis, low bone density or at risk of fractures. It provides safe and gentle exercises to improve strength, coordina�on, and balance, reduce risk of falls, and increase confidence and independence.

Mul�cultural Dance Move to a unique mix of La�n beats and learn a variety of easy-to-follow dance steps in this fun, low impact dance class. This class touches on basic movement, improvisa�on and self-expression, while building confidence, strength and flexibility!

Tai Chi Learn this ancient Chinese mar�al art form that uses deliberate standing movements, medita�on and deep breathing to enhance your physical and mental well-being. Described as “medita�on in mo�on”, this prac�ce improves flexibility, joint strength, and balance. Prac�cing Tai Chi also increases mental focus and awareness, helping you achieve a sense of inner peace.

Gentle Yoga A yoga prac�ce adapted for beginners as well as those interested in a more gentle approach. Using a combina�on of chair yoga, yoga postures, and gentle breathing, you will learn how to use yoga prac�ce to help you deal with stress, become more relaxed, gain awareness, and keep your body moving with ease. Modifica�ons available for those with restric�ons due to health or injury.
