Message from the President

Networking and Referral

We at Connecticut EAPA have a great history of in Chapter networking and referral. I have recently participated in some no cost, professionally led psycho/educational and family friendly support groups. The only thing stopping me from advertising this myself is that I don’t want to do it as Chapter President. I would ask that those members that either sponsor or are aware of these types of resources announce them at our meetings so it can be heard and entered into the minutes for those not in attendance.

In these days of the opioid epidemic and the importance for the family component in recovery, low to no cost groups may make the difference in success or failure for the addict. No less vital is what it brings to family members and those within a support system when the addict isn’t in recovery. Managers and HR folks should be encouraged to attend as well. We all share the same planet. Knowledge is power.

President’s Note – continued Bud will chair the April meeting. I’ll be out of state instructing in an EAP program. Our June Conference Committee will meet at Gaylord at 8:00 just prior to the meeting if anyone wants to participate or merely watch how the magic happens. Our June Conference Committee, chaired by Carolyn Singer, has the lineup of speakers and venue all set, the flyers ready and the major items are in place. Now it’s about ironing out the inevitable wrinkles. Nothing major, just a list of the many small things that can derail the day. This Committee has a lot of prior experience at making it look easy and it’s amazing to see how that comes to fruition. Hats off to them all.
