and wellbeing of seniors.
Jay Prince
Mr. Prince is a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, with a
degree in Healthcare Administration and certifications in Long-term Care and
Hospital Administration. He chose the field because he was determined to foster
change in the long-term care industry.
He is the Chief Executive Officer for Heritage Community of Kalamazoo, the
largest and oldest retirement community in Southwest Michigan.
Over his career, he has provided executive leadership to for-profit and nonprofit
organizations, single and multi-site senior living communities, home health, and
hospice businesses.
Mr. Prince is a board member at Leading Age of Michigan and the board chair to
Senior Care Resources.
Troy Cuvelier
Mr. Cuvelier is a CEDIA-certified Electronic Systems Technician. He is a
graduate of Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, with an M.B.A.
and Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, with degrees in Health
Information Technology and Healthcare Systems Administration.
His goal is to enhance the health and well-being of as many lives as possible by
to incorporating healthcare and technology together.
Mr. Cuvelier is the President & Owner of Integrated Smart Technologies and is
recognized as one of the leading providers of automation and entertainment
solutions in the State of Michigan. His work has been featured in national media
such as Electronic House & CE Pro magazines, MTV & HD Net television, and
many other local & state-wide outlets.

Connected Sensory Environments
A Multi-Sensory Environment (MSE) is a term used to categorize a variety of therapeutic spaces
specifically designed to provide sensory experiences by engaging the senses (sight, sound, touch,
taste, smell, movement).
MSE’s are designed to: reduce maladaptive behaviors and increase positive behaviors, promoting
positive mood and affect, facilitating interaction and communication, and promoting a healthier
relationships, thereby reducing caregiver stress.
The therapeutic design provides sensory stimuli to individuals in a setting that emphasizes engagement
with appealing sensory elements such as fiber-optic and controlled lighting, music or sound effects,
aromatherapy and tactile manipulatives.
