Connect8 – how far will you be from a BT superfast cabinet, as the crow flies? I wanted to help people get their head around the local forecast coverage of BT superfast broadband across the core Connect8 area. If the length of phone line to the new cabinet is 1km or less then on a good line you should get about 28Mb/s, just about superfast on the government’s old definition (now 30Mb/s). So I have plotted the superfast cabinets I know about on 7 June 2016 and 1km radius circles. But telephone lines tend to follow the road, not go as the crow flies. If the phone line isn’t in good condition then you get slower speeds at any given distance. As a result actual speeds experienced within the circles could well be slower. This mapping is an amateur effort – please treat it as such – will do something more precise after BT meeting. Cheers William.
