I want to call out to you, “All aboard!” “Get on board” with the ministries starting up this month. “All Aboard” for the two Sunday worship services starting on September 20th. A special treat for Sunday service happens on September 13th while we are still in one worship service. Labor Day reminds us of the value of work. God calls us to collaborate in the stewardship and development of our human experi-ence. This includes work. Though our individual responsibility work level varies we each live out our faith in every aspect of our life. Marysville Police Chief Rick Smith will be with us as our guest preacher on Sunday, September 13th. Rick will be sharing how walking with Jesus affects his life. “All aboard” to love your church! This is the focus of my sermons this month. Catch up on our web site if you missed a message. Also, groups and friendship gatherings and week-ly dinners are starting up. “Get on board!” “All aboard” for missions! Did you know we have new mission growth in Asia? Eric Spangler, the Asian Area Mis-sion Director will share excitement about Asia missions
with us on September 30th. We’ll also hear mini-reports from our summer mission teams to Guatemala and Mexico. “All aboard” for children’s ministries and family minis-tries! We’re glad to welcome Greg and Dawn Zook taking on the staff leadership roles for these important areas of min-istry. Greg Z is excited to work with discipling and building up our parent groups. Dawn will work with the children’s ministries. We have a great team of volunteers led by Heather Lundberg, our Leadership Board liaison. Pastor Greg Kanehen has worked hard in building up this ministry and now Greg Z and Dawn will build on his work. Some exciting changes will be rolled out this month, so get on board. We need a lot of volunteers to do a concentrated in-tentional and fun ministry to families with children. Pastor Greg Kanehen will be focusing on outreach development in : community, tech-communications, and group ministries. “All aboard” for preschool ministry! Jammi Jaynes, our preschool director, along with the teaching staff and Debbie Johnson will be launching off the preschool year. Is there anyone you might refer to our school? It’s a wonderful min-istry which includes a chapel time.
Finally, “all aboard” for camp ministries! As I enjoyed some days at Warm Beach Camp, I was reminded again of what our camp offers for you. This month there are the following camps: Dad and Sons weekend – Sept. 11-13 Dad and Daughters weekend – Sept 18-20 Adult (55+) Fellowship Retreat – Sept.15-18
Engaged Encounter – October 23-25 Marriage Encounter – Nov 13-15
I’m excited about the ministry opportunities this month. Let me know if you’re on board. You just might see hear me blow a train whistle and shout out, “All Aboard!” Pastor Vic
A publication of The Marysville
Free Methodist Church Community Reflections
When was the last time you heard those words? I heard them last month at our Warm Beach Camp. While enjoy-ing the WBC Family Camp in early August my grandson Lincoln and I boarded the mini-train and heard the con-ductor rally us onboard with that familiar shout out. The ride was a delight and part of a great few days of Bible teaching and family fun. As I look over the ministry planned here at MFMC for autumn I think of it like a ministry train picking up steam for a great spiritual growth adventure.

SPOTLIGHT ON OUR LEADERSHIP BOARD
Continued with Beverly Geer
What makes you laugh? Babies learning to walk, animal
videos on Facebook. Game nights with friends, cats chas-ing laser lights.
What makes you cry? Military families being reunited. Cruelty. My children hurting.
What would you like to see more of at MFMC?
I love the convergent services. For me, the encompassing of all our lives for a brief period of time encourages and strengthens me for the week to follow. So, I would love the convergent service to be our new norm.
What work do you do or did you do?
I have been in the medical field for 33 years. I work in a small office where we are responsible for many different jobs. I love it!
SPOTLIGHT ON OUR LEADERSHIP BOARD
We’d like to introduce you to MFMC Board Members by asking each some questions. We asked them to have fun with this inter-view. Follow up with these folk as you talk to them about your ideas for MFMC.
Beverly Geer has been an elected board member for three years starting in 2014.
How did you start coming to MFMC?
We were attending an Assembly of God church that was closing, we knew a few people that were attending MFMC. We thought we would try it out for one Sunday and never left!
What do you enjoy at MFMC? The sermons. The fam-ilies. The drums. The freedom to work in the Wesleyan method.
What ministry areas do you watch over?
Small Groups, Service and Fellowship.
What is your favorite character in a Bible story?
I always come back to the father in Mark 9:17-24. His son is filled with demons, he asked Jesus to help his son. Jesus asks “Do you believe?” The father replies “Yes, Lord, I do believe but help me not to doubt”. For me it has always comforted me that Jesus knows our doubts, our fears, our worries, and it is OK to acknowledge them to Him. He will heal, comfort and love us in that place.
What is your activities or interest do you enjoy?
I love to read. I have a book club that I enjoy immensely. I like to garden and to hike. I have a 3 speed bike that I love to cruise around on.
Tell us about your family. I have been married for 35 years to Mike. We have 2 daughters, Rose who is in the Army and currently stationed in New York. She has 3 boys. The world’s best grandsons! Micah 14, Gaberial 12 and Kekoa 7. Our daughter JoAnna, just got married last winter to Adam, who is a great son-in-law. We have a dog named Whistler, who we adore.
What are your favorite songs, books or art? I like Free-dom by Nicole C. Mellen. I like Elvis Presley’s The Song of the South. White Flag (who doesn’t?). I like to work out to current pop music but when I’m home I prefer Irish, Indian or African music. My book favorites would take up reams of paper, so I won’t list them here, but if you ever want to talk books, I’m your gal!
What are your favorite foods? Spare ribs made by Mike on the BBQ!
DO YOU ENJOY SINGING?
Our church choir resumes rehearsals on
Monday evening, September 14th
7:00pm till approximately 8:30pm
in the Worship Center.
We heartily welcome all who are interested in
serving our Lord
as a member of the choir.
Don’t hesitate to join us!
If you have any questions please call
Belle Miller.
August 2015 I walked into the clinic to do prenatal exams and immediately my attention was drawn to a woman in a full length black burka. I could only see her eyes. It sparked my curiosity. Usually the "strict" Muslims, so to say, do not come to Mercy; being that it is a Christian organization. Yet, she was sitting here, inwardly I wanted to do her prenatal care to get to know her yet fear crept inside of me as I thought how will I carry out care? Would I be able to pray with her? The ques-tions raced through my mind. We started doing prenatal (usually we see between 30-60 women each prenatal day). I went to call my next pa-tient and she stood up. As we walked into the prenatal room I began to chat with her then she removed her face covering. I was struck with what an amazing opportunity I had to speak with her face to face. What an honor to be with her when I found the baby's heartbeat on the Doppler and a big smile came across her face at the sound of the heartbeat, a smile that is otherwise hidden from the world. My heart filled with so much love for this woman and I wanted to pray with her yet again the fear of man was knocking on my door. I find so often I want to reach out yet the enemy knows my number and it comes in the form of the fear of man. What will they think of me? How will they respond? I am reminded of Isaiah 41:3 " For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." In that moment I asked if it would be okay if I prayed with her and she eagerly said yes. I know for sure the Lord's hand was there and what an incredible op-portunity that potentially could have been passed up. She prepared to leave and put her full face covering back on and then walk out. I am so thankful for the Lord's steadfastness in our lives that we can turn to Him and He will take our hand and we can go beyond our comfort zone.

NEWSLETTER FROM EMILY SPORES
Village Outreach: On August 25th some of the other missionary volunteers and I will be headed to the bukid (the mountain region) of Mindanao to do outreach with Nehemiah Teams. I am on a team with three other girls and we will be traveling to a village in the Butuan providence. We do not know anything about the people within
the village, so we will find out when we get there. We are currently preparing ministry and health teachings for all ages not knowing. We will be there a little short of a month. I am really excited about what God is
going to do in our hearts and the hearts of the people we will be ministering to.
Please pray That God will prepare the hearts of the people in the village and our team's heart as we go out.
That we will have open doors and opportunity to share the love of Jesus. For safety as we travel and as we stay in the village.
* I will not have internet from August 25 to September 22nd, so if you are trying to reach me it will just be a
few week until I am able to get back with you.
Thank you for all your prayers and support, In His love,
Emily Spores

Ministry Group resumes its monthly meetings on
Tuesday, September 22 at 1pm in FH #2.
What is Prayers & Squares?
Prayers & Squares is an interfaith outreach ministry that combines the gift of a
hand-tied quilt with the gift of prayer for someone in need. The essence of this ministry
is in the prayers offered for the recipient;
it is not about the quilts.
