INTRODUCTION
August 3, 2015
Greetings Omaha High School FBLA:
Wow! OHS FBLA, you are amazing. Our journey together this year has been exciting, rewarding, eventful,
and successful! We are truly Future Business Leaders of America.
The 2014-2015 school year ended on a high note. Last year you worked hard to put your leadership skills
into action and stepped up to the challenge. Our leadership abilities were evident as we brought home nu-
merous awards from national, state, and regional competitions. Eight members qualified for national compe-
tition at SLC. We came home from Chicago, Illinois with three members who completed their Business
Achievement Awards and received national recognition. All of their hard work definitely paid off! All in all,
SLC and NLC were amazing conferences for our chapter. What a year!
As Chapter President, I assure you that I will work tirelessly to ensure that every member becomes in-
volved in all activities and that each of you grows individually and collectively. I challenge each of you to
continue pursuing new goals in FBLA and connect with as many members as you can. As the 2015-2016
school year approaches, your new chapter officers are working together to plan an exciting year. As always,
we are going to plan activities to increase our membership, increase leadership skills and may success be
ever in our future.
Congratulations on a successful year and thank you OHS FBLA for your support. We can truly call
ourselves Future Business Leaders of America.
Sincerely,
Joanna Roberts
Chapter President

INTRODUCTION State of the Chapter
The Omaha community, school’s faculty, and admin-
istration recognize Omaha High School FBLA for its
outstanding accomplishments this year.
Number of Members. The Omaha High School Future
Business Leaders of America is the largest student organization
on our campus. Omaha’s FBLA currently has 34 high school
members. This past year we were more successful in competi-
tion and community service activities. Our quality of members
has increased with more participation than ever before. Since
2009 OHS FBLA has either maintained or increased our partici-
pation. The following is how many members we have in each
grade in Omaha High
School for the 2015-2016
school year:
9th Grade — 8 Members
10th Grade — 9 Members
11th Grade — 7 Members
12th Grade — 10 Mem-
bers
Above is a pie chart show-
ing how many members we
have in each grade. In consideration of our high school’s size we
are happy with our student participation. We are constantly
striving to enroll new members.
Chapter Officers. A chapter meeting was held on May 1,
2015, to vote for our officers. Only paid members of OHS FBLA
were allowed to vote. The following people were elected to
hold the Omaha FBLA 2015-2016 Offices:
Joanna Roberts— President
Paige Roberts— Vice President
Riley Keafer— Secretary
Haley O’Brien— Treasurer
Carson Partee — Reporter
Tyler Shockley— Parliamentarian
Size of School and Community. Omaha High School
has 126 students in grades 9-12. OHS is the only high school in
the Omaha area with a population of 169
people. Omaha is located in the
Northwest part of Arkansas on
the border of Arkansas and Mis-
souri. Although this part of
Arkansas is considered to be
one of the more economically
deprived, our community and
parental support is excellent.
Omaha School has an ethnic distri-
bution of 93% Caucasian and 7% other.
Foundation of the Omaha FBLA Chapter. The
Omaha High School Chapter of Future Business Leaders of
America was organized January 23, 1967. OHS FBLA has been
incredibly active ever since. In 1967, Mr. Sam Goats started
Omaha FBLA and was advisor until 1973 when Mrs. Caroline
Yearns took over. Mrs. Yearns was advisor of our chapter until
1991. Mary-Beth O’Dell and Patricia Duck led the organization
until 1998 when our current advisor, Mrs. Holly Perry took
over. Mrs. Perry has touched the lives of many and continues to
better Omaha High School’s FBLA each year.

ACTIVITIES TO BENEFIT
CHAPTER AND ITS MEMBERS Recruitment Activities
Omaha High School FBLA is the largest student organ-
ization in our school. Daily, we are seeking new ways to
add members. Our officer team has continued recruit-
ing and insuring that members would be involved in
community service, fundraising, conferences, competi-
tive events, and FUN!
Membership Recruiting Committee. This year
Omaha High School developed a recruitment committee to
increase membership and member involvement. Each grade had
a representative to serve on the committee. Our officer team,
combined with our recruiting committee, generated new ideas
to increase membership and involvement. The team designed a
PowerPoint presentation that proved to be an effective tool
when presented to business classes. A brochure was made and
passed out to possible new members. Returning FBLA mem-
bers were encouraged to complete Membership Madness and
were offered incentives for completion. Officers were chal-
lenged to complete Membership Mania during our recruitment
process.
Daily Announcements. Every day, OHS FBLA adds
new daily announcements to our Samsung 55-inch touch screen
TV. The TV is located outside our FBLA sponsor’s classroom
and is easily accessible to all. Omaha FBLA puts all meeting
dates, fundraisers, events, and accomplishments on the TV for
the entire student body, visitors, and FBLA members to see.
Omaha Organization Days. To improve our stu-
dent involvement, Omaha allows all organizations to meet once
each month. On these days, FBLA members dress in their busi-
ness attire to help prepare for the business world and be an
example for others.
Organization Day. This year
FBLA organized a school wide
organizational fair for all student
organizations at Omaha High
School. All student organiza-
tions participated in this event. It
was held during study hall and Ac-
celerated Reading hour. At the fair,
FBLA members presented our brochures and gave student tes-
timonials about their experiences in FBLA.
Bring a Buddy Meeting. During our September
monthly meeting, we held a Bring-A-Buddy meeting. Each cur-
rent member was responsible for bringing a
buddy for a prospective new member-
ship. We presented the benefits of
FBLA and played teamwork games.
Our buddies were then invited to
our Recruitment Pizza Party. This
photograph is a picture of a return-
ing member and their buddy.
FBLA-PBL Week. FBLA Week activities are announced
on the daily announcements and projected on the flat screen
TV. Members also make signs which are set up all over the
campus. The activities are made to include the entire student
body and not just the FBLA members.
FBLA Brochures.
FBLA members that
were enrolled in Busi-
ness classes created tri-
fold brochures to hand
out to prospective new
members, new students
and families to Omaha
School, the Omaha
School Board and ad-
ministration. The bro-
chures highlighted the benefits of FBLA to members, the school
and the community. The brochure also had a section to rec-
ognize the current success of Omaha FBLA. The brochure
shown here is an example of one that was handed out to pro-
spective new members.
FBLA Presentations. The Omaha FBLA officers and
recruitment committee got together to make PowerPoint
presentations for our business classes. Each officer gave a busi-
ness class the presentation and answered any questions that
the students had.
Recruitment Pizza Party. This year our FBLA chapter
held a recruitment pizza party. FBLA members worked the
event. OHS members invited friends and family to come out for
the fun filled day. We incorporated parent/community involve-
ment in our event by serving pizza, chips, drinks, and cookies to
all who participated. At the event we played games and ice
breakers that used team work and had an FBLA presentation
describing what our organization does. We had a great turn out
and it seemed to benefit our organization and interest prospec-
tive members.

ACTIVITIES TO BENEFIT
CHAPTER AND ITS MEMBERS Leadership Development
Developing competent and aggressive business leaders is
one of the nine goals of Future Business Leaders of Ameri-
ca. Officers and members are encouraged to develop and
enhance their leadership potential and abilities through
various activities and conferences.
Chapter Officer Elections. In May of 2015 OHS FBLA
members who were interested and eligible to hold an office for
the 2015– 2016 school year took part in a formal election pro-
cess. Officer candidates must have completed their sophomore
year in high school and been an active member of FBLA for at
least one year. Officer candidates had to fill out and turn in an
application which included their qualifications for the office, stated
what goals they had for OHS FBLA, and a teacher recommenda-
tion. In addition, candidates gave speeches at a local chapter meet-
ing. Local chapter members voted. Officers were announced and
began their term of service in May of 2015.
Officer Attire. Omaha FBLA officers wanted to create a uni-
fied look at our local chapter meetings. OHS officers decided to
wear the same FBLA t-shirts as their local officer attire for all
meetings. At more formal meetings and events, such as officer in-
stallation and member induction, our officers made the decision to
wear official FBLA business attire.
District Officer Elections. During the 2014-15 school
year, Omaha FBLA ran two members, Joanna Roberts and Haley
O’Brien, for Arkansas District VI offices. Both were elected. Joan-
na Roberts was elected Treasurer and Haley O’Brien was elected
Parliamentarian. Joanna and Haley attended District VI training in
June. At the training they met with other officers from across the
district. The training planned the fall conference activities and
practiced proper ways to hand out awards and conduct a confer-
ence. During the 2015-16 school year, Omaha FBLA ran one mem-
ber. KayAnn Lafee was elected to serve in the
position of Arkansas District VI
Reporter.
FBLA Workshops. This year Omaha FBLA participated in
and held many workshops. During our District VI Fall Conference,
OHS District Officers hosted a Talent Show and a Minute to Win
It workshop. Members from every chapter had the opportunity to
sign up for the Talent Show. Students from all chapters were invit-
ed up on stage to participate in the Minute to Win It workshop.
Students who completed the challenge were given prizes. The pho-
to shown was taken at the District VI Fall Con-
ference and shows students participating in the
Minute to Win It workshop. At our District
VI Spring Conference, OHS District Officers
held a Battle of the Chapters game and a Tal-
ent Show. At our chapter meetings, we hold
workshops with new members. We held an Ice-
breaker “get to know you” activities. All of these workshops
proved to be very fun and effective ways to get members involved
in FBLA.
Business Achievement Awards Program. Omaha
FBLA encourages all members to complete one or more levels of
this program. Through participation in this program members are
responsible for completing Community Service Projects, participat-
ing in fundraisers, entering competitions, preparing business docu-
ments, social blogs with other members from across the country,
and planning workshops and ceremonies. In 2014 our chapter had
the only two members in the state of Arkansas, who completed
their BAA’s. In 2015, we had three members that received their
America Level Award at FBLA Nationals in Chicago, Illinois. We
currently have several members working towards the different
levels this year.
FBLA: Do you know your history? During our District
VI Spring Conference, OHS FBLA member, Joanna Roberts, led
District VI schools in a “Battle of the Chapters” competition. Ap-
proximately 30 members from 10 district schools competed to see
which chapter knew the most about the knowledge and history of
state and national FBLA. The workshop was successful in showing
members how much they knew about FBLA as well as teaching
them the facts they were not aware of.
Career Exploration and Preparation
Three of the main goals of National FBLA, Arkansas
FBLA, and Omaha FBLA are to:
7
ACTIVITIES TO BENEFIT
CHAPTER AND ITS MEMBERS Develop competent, aggressive business leader-
ship
Strengthen the confidence of students in them-
selves and their work
Facilitate the transition from school to work
With these goals in mind, OHS FBLA strives to make a
difference with our members, our school, and ultimately
our community. Throughout the year FBLA participates
in several activities to help reach our goal.
Guest Speakers. Several times throughout the year, busi-
ness classes invite speakers into their classrooms and to FBLA
meetings to serve as experts on various topics. This year Ms.
Kelly Getman spoke with FBLA members about what to expect in
a job interview. She also conducted mock interviews with FBLA
graduating seniors. In addition, Mr. Randy Hamilton of Jostens gave
a presentation on the types of job options available in Digital Me-
dia.
Job Shadowing. FBLA members are given the opportunity
to job shadow each year. Members must shadow a career that
they are interested in pursuing and must be someone they are not
related to. After their day of observing, members write up a re-
port about the job and present it to the whole organization at the
next monthly meeting. The members are required to ask the fol-
lowing questions of the person they are job shadowing:
What their title/position entails
Advancement opportunities
Training required for the job
Education requirements
The presentations of the different careers
presented by FBLA members offer the chance for the whole or-
ganization to explore several different careers throughout the
year.
Dress for Success. Each year OHS FBLA members dress in
business attire on their regular monthly meeting days. At the be-
ginning of each year the chapter officer’s hold a fashion show for
the members to get them ready for the dress days. The work-
shop presented the dos and don’ts of business
attire.
The business dress days have become a favorite activity of the
school’s administration and faculty. They feel it is a real benefit for
the members and like the professional atmosphere the chapter
brings to the school.
Business Partnerships
OHS FBLA strives to establish ties to business, profes-
sional, and service groups in the community.
Local Business and Industry Support. Omaha FBLA
has experienced much success in the last several years. Because of
the positive image we have in our community, we can count on
our local businesses to support us when in need. In November,
Omaha FBLA sold Schermer Pecans. Many corporations and local
businesses allowed us to put order forms in office work rooms.
Local businesses allow us to hang fliers in their stores, helping pro-
mote any community events or fundraisers we have coming up.
This past year we had eight members qualify to compete at the
National Leadership Conference in Chicago, Illinois. This trip was
very expensive. With support and donations from local businesses
and organizations, all competitors were able to go. Some of the
businesses and organizations who have donated money are Pepsi,
Community First Bank, Hawaiian Heatwave Tanning, Meek’s, and
Jaime’s Local Flavor.
Vocational Education Advisory Board. OHS Voca-
tional Education classes have an Advisory Board to assist with the
Vocational Education classes. The Board is comprised of Voca-
tional Education Instructors, the school counselor, the school
principal, representatives of local business, and students from the
Vocational Classes. OHS FBLA has two members serving on the
board. The Board serves to offer advice, foster relations, and
encourages the school’s work connections.
Youth Leadership Academy. Last year, the local
Chamber of Commerce in Harrison, Arkansas, created a Youth
Leadership Academy. This group was made up of 22
students from six area high schools. All of
the student representatives from
OHS were active FBLA
members.
8
This young group of leaders gained knowledge about the history of
Harrison, entrepreneurship, our government in action, non-profit
organizations in the surrounding area, and personal financial man-
agement. The members in YLA completed a community service
project for their final task. Omaha FBLA members in the group
decided to raise money to complete a wheelchair ramp for stu-
dents with disabilities on the OHS campus. This project not only
involved the FBLA members in YLA, but our FBLA chapter and
other organizations on school campus. This community service
project still benefits those with disabilities and the school as a
whole today.
Chapter Fundraising
Fundraising is a vital part of the OHS FBLA chapter’s suc-
cess. Throughout the 2015-2016 school year, various
methods were used to raise to send members to confer-
ences and competitions.
Fundraising Activities:
Membership Dues. Omaha’s FBLA dues are set at $15.00-
$6.00 for national dues, $3.00 for state dues, and $6.00 for our
chapter. We use some of our membership dues to buy FBLA mer-
chandise to give as door prizes at our local meetings.
Eaglettes. Omaha FBLA members team up with the Omaha
Cheerleaders to teach elementary students
cheers, dances, and games to perform for the
community during the Old-timers game.
FBLA transports the students from the
elementary school to the high school and
serves snacks to the children. Each child
pays $25 to participate in this fund-raiser.
Yankee Candles. Omaha FBLA members are each given a
Yankee Candle form to sell to their friends, family, and neighbors.
Every year the Yankee Candles sales help Omaha FBLA raise mon-
ey to attend the Arkansas FBLA State Leadership Conference.
Donkey Basketball Game. Every few years, OHS FBLA
holds a donkey basketball game to raise funds for the National
Conference, this year in Atlanta, Georgia. Each participant pays an
entry fee and the observers also pay a fee to watch. Participants
are FBLA members, teachers, and stu-
dents. The FBLA members open the con-
cession stand to bring in more funds.
This is an event the entire community
comes out to participate in.
Schermer Pecans. This year Omaha
FBLA sold several different types of Schermer Pecans. We learned
about this fundraiser while walking through the marketplace at past
NLCs. We sold our bags of pecans for $10. Each OHS member
took home an order form. We also had a booth set up at basket-
ball games to sell the pecans.
Concession Stands. During several basketball games
throughout the year, Omaha FBLA works the concession stands.
Working the concession stands allows us to become better ac-
quainted with the members in our community.
School Spirit T-Shirts. Every year our FBLA chapter de-
signs and sells Omaha Eagle apparel. FBLA members are allowed to
submit designs and our chapter voted on the t-shirts we sold. This
year we sold two t-shirts and two spirit jerseys.
March of Dimes. Omaha FBLA participated in a Miracle Mi-
nute during the District VI Conference to help raise funds for the
March of Dimes.
Public Relations Activities and Chapter
Publicity
OHS FBLA works diligently to promote the organization
in our school and community through a variety of public
relations activities. Newspaper articles, website releases,
OHS FBLA Facebook, school newsletters, and bulletin
boards keep members and the community informed on
FBLA activities.
Parent Newsletter. Each month, Omaha FBLA includes
information in the Omaha Parent Newsletter about FBLA activities
and events. This newsletter helps keep the community informed
and invites them to attend our functions.
ACTIVITIES TO BENEFIT
CHAPTER AND ITS MEMBERS
9
School Announcements. Morning announcements are
made daily at OHS. FBLA posts announcements frequently to
remind members and others of activities.
Bulletin Boards. Omaha FBLA has
a main bulletin board that is seen when
you enter or exit the High School
building. This bulletin board serves as
a recruitment tool for new members
and to promote conferences and mem-
ber recognition.
Digital Bulletin Board. Omaha High School also has a
Digital Bulletin Board. The Bulletin Board is a 55’ touch screen
TV located on the wall outside of the Vocational Business
Classroom. FBLA uses this media to run
presentations, videos and podcasts of
FBLA activities, honors and awards.
Daily announcements and meeting
reminders can also be shown on the
screen. This is a great device for pub-
licity, all members enjoy the honor of
seeing their picture on the big screen.
School Yearbook. FBLA is the most active organization
on the OHS campus. Because of this, the yearbook publicizes
the many activities of FBLA and its members. As a result, mem-
bers and officers are able to have a lasting memoir of their FBLA
experiences and memories.
Omaha School Web Page and FBLA Face-
book. Omaha FBLA has a link on the
Omaha School District website to our
Facebook page. The Omaha FBLA
page serves to keep all members and
parents informed. On this web page
we incorporate all meeting dates, fund-
raisers, events, and accomplishments for
students, faculty, and parents to view.
Summer Leadership. Omaha FBLA adviser Holly Perry
and chapter President Joanna Roberts, attended the 2015-16
O.U.R. CTE Regional Partnership Council Summit II on October
21, 2015. Representatives and students from schools across the
region attended the conference. Those present at the council
were able to attend a wide variety of meetings including topics
such as Agriculture, Business, FACS, Skilled, and Technical. Offi-
cials from businesses across the region were also present at the
conference and available to everyone during a question and an-
swer session.
State and National Projects
Omaha High School FBLA supported many state and
national projects throughout the school year. A major
goal of our officers was to receive Outstanding Chapter
Recognition Award for the fifth year in a row. Many na-
tional projects also had to be completed to achieve this
undertaking.
Membership Madness and Membership Mania.
Two members completed the requirements for Membership
Madness and two for Membership Mania. In total they recruited
ten new members for our local chapter FBLA.
100% Class Participation. For the fifth time in a row,
OHS has classes that have 100% FBLA participation. The 2015-
2016 school year is the second time that we have had more than
one class achieve 100% participation. Senior Seminar and Digital
Communications III and IV all qualified for this. We are very
proud of these classes and their participation.
Ronald McDonald House Charities. This year Ar-
kansas FBLA partnered with the Ronald McDonald House. The
RMHC helps children and families in need by giving them a place
to rest and refresh. These programs, tailored to meet the urgent
needs of each community, can now be found in more than 58
countries and regions across the globe. OHS FBLA collected
soda pop tabs and canned goods for the RMHC.

ACTIVITIES TO BENEFIT OTHER INDIVIDUALS
AND ORGANIZATIONS FBLA Week. FBLA Week is always busy and exciting at Oma-
ha High School. Several activities are planned and carried out during
the week. This year was no exception. On Monday, OHS FBLA held
a volleyball tournament. FBLA members first challenged the teachers
and then invited students to participate. On Tuesday, all members of
OHS FBLA dressed up in business attire. On
Wednesday, we held an Advisor Apprecia-
tion Party. We surprised our advisor with
her favorite food, drink, and flowers. On
Thursday, we spoke in front of the student
body at lunch, describing the benefits of
FBLA. On Friday, Omaha FBLA toured FedEx.
Outstanding Chapter Award. For the past six years OHS
FBLA has received an Outstanding Chapter Recognition award and
has met all the requirements for being an Outstanding Chapter again
this year.
Business Achievement Awards Program. OHS FBLA
had three members recognized at the 2015 NLC for achieving the
America Award. This year, several members are working to com-
plete the different levels of the BAAs. OHS FBLA
is committed to the Business Achievement
Awards program and is requiring all mem-
bers wanting to run for a local or district
office complete the Future level of this
awards program. In addition, officers must
commit to completing the next level during
their term of office.
March of Dimes Mission Lift Project. OHS FBLA, in
conjunction with Arkansas District VI FBLA, held a “Miracle Minute”
during Fall Conference and raised over $500. District VI matched
the amount to raise a total of over $1,000 for this mission.
National Scholarship Fund. OHS FBLA made a donation
to the Scholarship fund when dues were submitted. Our chapter
has received a Distinguished Business Leader Scholarship winner in

month new activities were posted for chapters to complete. Chal-
lenges were posted on the Arkansas FBLA home page, Instagram,
Facebook, and Twitter. Points were awarded to the chapters who
participated. OHS FBLA was excited about this challenge and re-
ceived first place at the State Leadership Conference. Last year, a
challenge very similar to this was called the Step-Up Challenge.
