Greetings!

On behalf of the WIND Board of Directors and the WIND 2015 Program Chairs, Christina Bolin and Char-lie Baker, we welcome you to the 16th Annual Windstorm Insurance Conference and the city of New Orleans.

With 2015 marking the 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, we are proud to be back here to show our support. This year’s conference theme will focus on the recovery, rebirth and revitalization of New Orleans in the past decade since Hurricane Katrina struck on August 29, 2005.

We are also pleased to host the WIND Day of Caring to kick off this year’s conference. This community service project is our way to support the community by giving our time and service to paint and spruce up a low-income school in New Orleans. A special thanks to all our attendees that signed up to share their time and talents.

Each year, WIND strives to make our conference a well-rounded event, offering informative professional development sessions, diverse continuing education workshops, and numerous networking opportuni-ties. It is our pleasure to host this unique and diverse conference for the windstorm insurance claims industry each year.

I’d like to thank everyone who had a hand in making this year’s event possible. Special thanks go to our many exhibitors and sponsors for their contributions. Please be sure to show them your appreciation. Thanks to Conference Chairs Christina Bolin and Charlie Baker, WIND Executive Director Michelle Griffin, Meeting Management Group, and the 2015 Conference Committee who have spent a year planning the conference and countless hours working hard to ensure its success.

I’d also like to extend my gratitude to our keynote speakers and workshop faculty for their participation. They help educate and inform our attendees on some of the top issues affecting the windstorm insur-ance claims field. Finally, thanks go to the WIND Board of Directors and committees for their dedication and assistance.

A special note to our WIND members, your support and attendance have helped make WIND one of the industry’s premier educational and networking associations for windstorm insurance claims industry pro-fessionals.

To all of our registrants, thank you for your attendance. We welcome your input and participation. If there is anything we as an organization can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,

Lenox L. Godfrey, CPCU, AICClaims Director Florida Insurance Guaranty Association, Inc. 2014-2015 WIND President

Arrangements for additional CE report-ing or certificates can be easily arranged with AE21 at the CE Registration Desk. Failure to return the attendance card will result in no CE credit being awarded. Please remember to visit the CE Registration Desk at the conference to obtain your CE Attendance Card and all the latest CE information and approvals.

In August 2005, award-winning writer Lynette Norris Wilkinson found herself with 16 family members and friends on her doorstep when Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans. They had nothing but the clothes on their backs and the few possessions they had in their cars. But they had their lives, and they had each other. Through this experi-ence, Lynette learned what really matters.

Seeing the devastated Lower Ninth Ward, she had the God-inspired idea to write a book that celebrated hurricane survivors from that area and donate the proceeds to organizations that are helping residents recover. She says, “You see me as I am now, but there was where it all began. These are my roots and my people. How could I not use my gift to do what is within my power to help?”

And so the book, Untold: The New Orleans 9th Ward You Never Knew, was born. The author says, “If this is the best and biggest thing I ever do in my life, I will be happy.”
