Wednesday, June 12: LAND OF INSPIRATION

Visit the Talmudic city of Zippori where Rabbi Yehudah HaNasi compiled the Mishnah 1,800 years ago. Explore the Roman theater, ancient synagogue and some of the most beautiful mosaics of the Middle East, considering the complex relationship between Jewish and Pagan Roman civilization.

Nazareth: Visit the Basilica of the Annunciation and meet a local Israeli Palestinian Christian to learn about the complex identity issues they are facing as an Arab minority living among the Jewish majority in Israel and as a Christian minority living amongst the Muslim majority in Nazareth.

Lunch and tour at Kibbutz Hanaton, the world’s first Conservative Kibbutz. Meet representatives of this modern pioneering community.

Ascend the Mount of the Beatitudes to visit the beautiful Church of the Beatitudes, traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount to discuss the role of prayer in the first century.

Thursday, June 13 MYSTICS AND MOUNTAINS Visit the mystical city of Tzfat to explore itse alleyways and synagogues and trace the

development of Kabbalah in the 16th Century. Meet a Kabbalistic artist Abraham Lowenthal in his studio and see how he synthesizes Jewish mysticism and art.

Cross the B’not Ya’akov bridge to ascend the Golan Heights and visit the trenches and bunkers at Mitzpeh Gadot, overlooking the kibbutzim below. Learn about the role of the Golan in the Six Day War of 1967.

Continue to Tel Saki for a briefing on the situation along the Syrian border and to gain an appreciation of the strategic significance of the Golan Heights.

Start of Program

The program will begin on Tuesday, June 11 at Ben Gurion International Airport. There will be ONE group bus airport transfer from the airport to the Hilton Hotel timed to match the flight that most of the group will be arriving on in Israel on June 11, 2019 Please note: If your flight arrives in Israel at a different time or date you will be responsible for the cost of your own airport transportation. End of Program

There will be one group bus drop off at Ben Gurion Airport in Israel on Thursday evening, June 20 at the conclusion of the trip. The exact times of the airport transfer will be set to meet the flight departure time of the majority of the group.
