May the Holy One reward them, remove sickness from them, heal them, and forgive their sins. May God bless them by making all their worthy endeavors prosper, as well as those of the entire people Israel, their brothers and sisters.” Think about the words you’ve just read. This is a powerful prayer from our Siddur Lev Shalom and it is a prayer that holds special meaning to so many of us. We imagine those who came before us when we read this and those who helped to establish Congregation Agudath Jacob. We think about those among us whose job it is to continue their legacy. Both groups are equally important. Our incoming Officers and Board of Directors take their jobs seriously and we know that we have a huge responsibility. We welcome your thoughts, your concerns, your time and when warranted even your praise. This is a small synagogue and we need everyone to participate wherever or whenever you can. The face of our congregation is changing but the commitment to Judaism in our small town is alive and well with all of us. Our hope is that you will get to know each other and share your ideas and your backgrounds and what makes us different and what makes us the same. Help us make a minyan, work in the kitchen, plan a program, take a class. There’s a lot to do and our hope is that all of us commit ourselves to the needs of our community and our shul. We look forward to seeing everyone soon. 2019 Executive Board 2019 Elected Board Members Susan Silver - President Judy Hersh Shanna Rogers - Vice President Joseph Settle Harry Harelik - Treasurer Abbye Silver Dianne DeMoville - Secretary Gloria Yoder Brent DeMoville - Past President

THANK YOU to all who purchased items from the Hanukkah event to make it a great success. Also, a very special THANK YOU to all who donated their time on decorations, crafts, gift items,

supplies, and help in the kitchen preparing the latkes and sufganiyot.

HOW TO OBSERVE THE YAHRZEIT

It is traditional to kindle a Yahrzeit Candle in the home on the evening Yahrzeit begins. It should

remain lighted until sunset the next day. Possible prayer before lighting a Yahrzeit candle:

Eternal God, I/we light this candle in memory of (name) _________, my/our beloved (relationship)

___________. The light of the flame rekindles all the warm memories of the moment we shared

together, and reassures me /us that a piece of his/her soul dwells in my/our heart(s) forever.

May his/her soul be bound up with the bonds of eternal life. Amen. Candles are available at the

Gift Shop. Every effort should be made to say Kaddish at congregational services. It is

meritorious to perform some Mitzvah or to contribute to the synagogue in commemoration of the

deceased.

Kaddish will be read on January 4
