Mid-Year High School State Testing

Mid-year state testing is coming in early

December. This opportunity is for high school

students who have yet to meet the proficiency

score and would like to retake the test to earn

more points toward graduation. Students who

scored less than proficient on any test are

being advised on which EOC (end-of-course)

test to take. State test scores are viewable

through the Powerschool Parent Portal app.

Students were awarded points this past year

based on their grade in the course due to

COVID preventing us to test in the spring.

Questions from students or parents may be

directed to Mrs. Ballinger in the counseling

office.

Carey Ballinger Guidance Counselor

Lori Lybarger Social Worker

Christine Clark Administrative Assistant

740-625-6385

The next national ACT dates are

December 12 and February 6.

Registration for the ACT is done on

line at www.actstudent.org.

Students thinking about

participating in the College Credit

Plus program for next year should

test on one of these dates. See

Mrs. Ballinger with questions about

the requirements for the CCP

program. Our annual CCP night will

not happen in-person this year.

Program information will be

available soon (videos).

Free preparation materials are

available on the Ohio Means Jobs

K-12 website and at

www.act.com/academy.

Sophomores – Knox County Career Center KCCC visited our 10th graders this past month and were given opportunity to ask questions about

what KCCC has to offer. The application for KCCC will open on Nov. 19th, then shut down until

reopening on Dec. 7th. Visit www.knoxcc.org for more information and to find the application.

The priority deadline for KCCC application is January 29th for Juniors. Priority deadline means

that if a student applies by this date and meets all lab requirements, they will most likely be

admitted. Waiting to apply may increase the risk of not being admitted to their top choice lab. An

applicant must be passing all classes in order to be admitted or will be placed on a waiting list

until final grades are released in the Spring.

Local scholarship season is coming up. Please continue to check on the scholarship document

that was shared with you. It will be updated as new scholarships come in. It can also be located

on the school website (High School – Student Services – Scholarship)

It is a great idea for all seniors to have at least one letter of recommendation (2 if planning on

attending college). Contact Mrs. Ballinger if you have yet to get started on this and need

assistance.

Centerburg Ski Club

The Centerburg Ski Club is now selling passes for this year's ski season at Snow Trails Ski Resort in

Mansfield, Ohio. Anyone may purchase a pass from the club at a greatly discounted rate than Snow

Trails regular pass prices. The club will be traveling to Snow Trails for six Tuesdays beginning Tuesday,

January 5, 2020 providing we are not completely virtual. Purchasing a pass through our club does not require you to attend the school trip to Snow Trails. Snow Trails does an excellent job offering quality lessons and keeping their slopes in terrific

condition!! The pass prices are the cheapest if purchased by November 15th, saving you $30 off

the group price. Passes will be for sale starting now throughout the

season. Skiing or snowboarding is a life-long hobby, a great way to have fun and be out-of- doors

in the winter! Please contact

Brielle Miller ([email protected]) Christina Barnard

([email protected])

at 625-6055 for more information or with questions. Information will also be posted on the school
