In an effort to foster team building and some friendly compe-titions between the crews and shifts, PCG waved the flags and started the “Race” to see who is the BEST in combination of Production, Quality, and Safety. In the Race system, partici-pants gain points based upon production and lose points for quality and/or safety violation.

The theme of a race was used as the production area is analo-gous to what a “Pit Crew” or “Production Crew” needs to do. Everyone has a specific job to perform and plays a crucial role in building the wining team. The tools required servicing the car or setting up the print plates and cutting dies must be ready and waiting. It needs to be done quickly and efficiently.

Once this is performed, then the car or the machine will run as fast as it can towards the finish line without any interruptions.

Each of our 12 hour shifts A, B, C, D have been competing against one another for the past few months. The results can be seen by the employees on the “Off to the Races” board in the plant. Prizes are given out quarterly. Below are the results as of today. Congratulations to all the winners.

Happy Retirement Tom Thank you for 28 Years at PCG!

“I have worked in corrugated packaging since 1960. Many things have changed since then but I still love this business!” said Tom Christy as he bid farewell to his PCG family on his last day at President Container, July 8, 2016.

Tom began working in our Moonachie Facility as the Plant Superintendent in 1988, responsible for the day to day oper-ations. In the late 90’s, he was promoted to Plant Manager at our newly formed sheet plant – PSP. When the sheet plant was moved to the NY facility, Tom brought his years of manu-facturing experience to the customer service department where he served as a Customer Service Representative until his retire-ment. He was a mentor to many of his co-workers and he will surely be missed.

Married to Mary Ellen for over 30 years, they have enjoyed trav-

eling and especially skiing all over the country. Over the years, they have welcomed into the world four beautiful grandchil-dren ranging from the ages of 12 to 23.“ They are our great-est joy. Our youngest son just got married last December to a lovely woman, and now we just want to relax and work on a list of projects that have been accumulating for many years.” Tom said.

A retirement luncheon was hosted for Tom on his last day, where co-workers past and present, joined in the celebration. On behalf of the Grossbard Family and employees at President Container Group, we wish Tom Christy all the best.

“Retirement has never been more deserved as you have inspired everyone at PCG and have allowed us to achieve our reputation for excellence”, wrote Larry Grossbard to Tom Christy.

AROUND PCG

Who would have thought the day would come where, after 53 years of working at President Container, Nat Sigler would announce his retirement? He began his career at President Container Inc., on November 8, 1963 while President was still in Brooklyn. Straight out of the Air Force, his first job was as an Account Executive at President. Over the next 53 years, through his hard work, diligence, and out going person-ality, he has helped us become one of the largest independent corrugated companies in the Country and will end his more than five decade long journey on August 1, 2016 with us, as President Container Group.

During his many years at PCG, Nat has shared many celebra-tions with the Grossbard family, from the births of both Larry and Richard, bar and bat mitzvahs, and weddings as well as some losses including that of his wife of over 50 years; Ilene who passed away June of last year. But with the support of his 4 children, Craig, Rachael, Ashar, Cory and 5 grandchildren, he has held strong and is now looking forward to retiring.

His future plans include an exciting move to “The Villages” retirement community in Florida where he will enjoy his days in the sun and company of new friends and family. On behalf of The Grossbard’s and President Container Group, we would like to thank Nat for his time and service and wish him a great and restful retirement.

“I’ve always been proud of knowing that I worked at one com-pany for so many years where I was at the births of Larry and Richard and now they are running the company”, said Nat Sigler.

Congratulations to Account Executive, Brian Parella and his wife Shannon on their recent nuptials. They got married on Saturday, April 2nd at St. Mary’s Parish in Pompton Lakes, NJ. Nathan (Nat) Sigler Retiring After 53 Years!

The AICC 2016 Operation Safe Shop winners were recently announced at it’s Spring Meeting on Friday, April 15, 2016 in Palm Desert, CA. COMMUNITYValley Central High Test Corrugated Boats & Sleds

Students at Valley Central High School in Montgomery, New York completed their final class project as part of President Container Group’s mentoring program. The students tested the corrugated boats and bridge they created with assistance from Rich Goldberg and their teacher, Nick Longo. Several students are seen testing the boats in the pool and others examining the durability of the bridge they built.

For their end of the semester class project, students attempted to test the corrugated sled they built outside in the snow however, there was insufficient snow to complete the project, so they tested the sleds in the local ice skating rink.
