Conformity Assessment Program (CAP)
What is a CAP?
• Demonstrates that products meet the requirements of national, regional and international markets
• Verification methods include the following depending on the product type and certification scheme
• Testing against product safety standard requirements
• Factory inspections to ensure consistent production
• Self declaration and test data in a technical file
• Quality Management Certification (eg medical devices, foodstuffs, vehicles and vehicle spare parts etc)
www.intertek.com10
Conformity Assessment Program (CAP)
Why introduce a CAP?
• Current system of self-declaration is not successful
• National market is flooded with inferior quality products
• Inspection and testing capabilities in-country are not adequate
• Aids trade facilitation by implementing verification of product compliance prior to shipment
