OverviewOverview

The Online Service System (OSS) is needed by SAP customers in ord er to commu nicate with SAP. SAP's

OSS offers fast and effective help for R/ 3 System p roblems. OSS is also the core element of

commu nications between customers, partn ers, and SAP. OSS is available 24 hou rs a d ay.

SAP prov ides an ap plication level gateway program called SAProuter. Its pu rpose is to act as a secure

gateway into and ou t of your SAP environment. This is the requ ired gatew ay for SAP commu nications.

SAProuteris configured by means of a rou ting table. This defines both the p ermitted and the denied routes

through your network. Once defined, SAProuterwill only allow access to your netw ork if the routes are

defined in the route p ermission table.

After configuring the OSS parameters, you n eed to install the SAProuteron Wind ows N T. This will allow

you to establish the netw ork connection between your compu ter and the SAP server sapserv4 , located in

Foster City, California. Following are the step s wh ich w ill allow you to do so.

name where SAProuterwill be

installed. For this examp le, the host

name is:pnsfo36

5. Enter its IP address. Here, we are

entering 147.204.176.136.

6. Enter 99 in the Instance number

field.

7. In the SA Prouter at SA P Namefield,

enter sapserv4for US custom ers.

8. Enter the sapserv4 IP address:

204.79.199.2.

9. Enter 99 into the field Instance No.

10. Accept the d efault values in the

other fields and click on the Save

icon.

start the MS-DOS Command

saprouter.exe -p service -r -R :\usr\sap\\sys\exe\run\saprt(

3. Use SAPPAD at the MS-DOS

promp t to create a file in the

directory :\ usr\ sap\

\ SYS\ exe\ run (e.g.

F:\ usr\ sap\ DEV\ SYS\ exe\ run) .
