Tena Koutou Katoa Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whanau Ukulele Lessons—A reminder that if you would like your child to learn the ukulele be sure to get the form back by the end of this week as lessons start on Friday. Willowbank—Reminder We will be leaving at 8.45am sharp, children to be at school by 8.30am. Remember they need to be wearing their cor-rect school uniform and have their lunch, drink bottle, sun-hat and a jacket. Leadership Camp This year we have two students (Emma Cholmondeley and Matthew Petrie) who will be attending the Leadership Camp at the Boyle River Outdoor Centre. The camp will runs over four days from March 20th—March 23rd. This is a great opportunity for the selected children to experience real hands on activities that will be challenging and de-velop leadership qualities. Yvonne Blair will be attending the camp with our two students. Afternoon Tea We are planning to have an afternoon tea for Miss Jevins next week. We thought it would be a lovely idea to have Claire in for an afternoon tea so that we can give her our best wishes for the arrival of her baby. Hopefully the baby doesn’t decide to come too early and beat us to it. At this stage we haven’t set a firm date so more details will follow. Hi Vis Vests—Bus children to remember to use these. What happened in the sand pit?
We were trying to make a Maori defence trench in the sand-pit. —Jamie We used popsicle sticks to make the walls. —Ashleigh Rosie and I built some Maori walls to protect the Maori vil-lage. —Danielle We were making a pretend trench with a hill and a fence at the top of it.—Rosie We put the sticks in to the ground on an angle so that they were harder to climb over. (the Maori used their spears as the sticks). In front of the sticks was a hole in the ground. - Millie We had pictures of Maori fences that kept out enemies. We were trying to make villages and the fences around them in the sandpit.—Charlie The fences is like a wall and it has a path that goes through it. You have to turn sideways to go through the fence.—Finn
