The Plenary lectures were given by: Prof.Zehev Tadmor of Technion (Israel Institute ofTechnology, Haifa, Israel) entitled “Touchstonesof Polymer Processing - From Classical PolymerProcessing to Macromolecular Engineering andScience and Molecular Engineering: a Novel Sci-ence-Engineering Discipline” and Dr. A.E.(Stathis) Zachariades (POLTECO Inc., California,USA) entitled “Engineering of Polymer Propertiesthrough Solid State Processing”. The 15 majorthemes were:
1. Rheology and Rheometry2. Mixing and Compounding3. Polymer Composites4. Reactive Processing5. Polymer Blends and Alloys6. Extrusion (Die Design, Single- or
Twin-Screw)7. Injection Molding8. Modeling and Simulation9. Structure Development during Processing
10. Fibers and Films11. Rotational / Blow Molding and
Thermoforming12. Recycling / Reusing of Polymers13. Packaging and Barrier Properties14. Stabilization/Biodegradability15. Molecular Rheology and Simulations
A highlight of PPS-2003 was the banquet, whichtook place on Tuesday night, 16 September 2003,in a beautiful Greek taverna, featuring Greeksongs and dances and a wide and enthusiasticparticipation from the delegates.
