It is fitting we celebrate in the location of the pinnacle of Canadian athletic achievement, home of the 2010 olympic Winter Games. our conference gives you the perfect opportunity to strive for your own personal best.
We come together to expand our skills as individuals and our profession as a community. Take charge of your career and empower yourself to improve patient outcomes. Learn, network and share amongst your colleagues and peers.
The pharmacy practice Innovation Showcase is a new feature highlighting some inspiring ways pharmacists are reaching patients. our keynote speaker, John furlong, will share what he learned from the highly successful Vancouver 2010 olympic and paralympic Winter Games. Karen Crisp, president of the pharmacy Guild of new Zealand, will give us perspectives from beyond our borders.
Many exciting developments from CphA are on the horizon, including MyCphA, a secure, dedicated network environment where members can connect and collaborate. Keep the conversation going well after our conference closes, on the CphA website and blog (www.pharmacists.ca), facebook page (www.facebook.com/CphA) and Twitter feed (@CphAAphC). our 100th national conference is just a start. What you take away and incorporate into your daily practice to help your patients will last. Go for the gold, starting here and now.

Pharmacological Management of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)RA is a common, serious, chronic, systemic inflammatory disease afflicting 1% of the population. In the past, RA was a disabling, progressive disorder for which there were no adequate treatments. Over the last 10 years new, targeted pharmaceutical therapies have been introduced. Now, the achievable goal of RA treatment is remission, not merely alleviation of symptoms.

2012 Issues Debate – The Great Debate: Blackburn vs Tsuyuki, Round 2. Barriers to Pharmacy Practice Change – Nature vs NurtureIn 2008, the Blueprint for Pharmacy outlined a vision for the profession: optimal drug therapy outcomes for Canadians through patient-centred care. Despite significant progress there remain challenges towards achieving the vision. In this engaging debate, two Canadian pharmacy opinion leaders return for an exploration of pharmacy culture. Are the traits commonly associated with pharmacists – risk-aversion, introversion, insecurity – the natural result of the profession attracting or pre-selecting these types, or do systemic or environmental factors give pharmacists these traits over time?
