REPORT OF SURVEY
"SIR MARTIN II"
file no. 12670 date. May 21, 2013
The survey report was conducted subject to the following conditions: That it is agreed and understood that
neither this corporation nor any of its directors or employees is to be held responsible in any circumstances
whatsoever and in any way for any error in judgment, negligence, or default, nor for any omission,
misrepresentation, misstatement or inaccuracy in the report. The request for the survey shall be construed
to be an acceptance of the above conditions.
The ketch rigged motor sailor "SIR MARTIN II" was surveyed afloat at Factory Marina,
Marco Island, on May 21, 2013.
It was reported (and evident from inspection) that the vessel had been dry docked in
December 2012. The bottom was repainted at that time.
The vessel was found to be exceptionally good condition. The vessel is maintained to
an unusually high standard. Navigation and safety equipment is, in most cases, at least
duplicated if not triplicated.
INTERIOR AND STRUCTURE
Inspection of the vessel was made to all accessible areas. There are inaccessible areas
behind ceilings, soles, linings, engines, tanks, batteries, etc.. All appeared to be in good
condition with the following exceptions, findings and recommendations:
The frames, floors and plating was inspected, where accessible. All was found to be in
very good condition. It is evident that the bilges are constantly monitored for signs of
"SIR MARTIN II" file no: 12670 page 10
corrosion and have been repainted at the first signs. There are no signs of significant
corrosion.
FIRE SYSTEMS
The fire extinguishers and automatic system were serviced in May 2012. This should be
repeated on an annual basis.
STEERING SYSTEM
The steering gear was inspected. All appeared to be in good condition and to be in
working order.
ELECTRIC SYSTEM
The electrical wiring system appeared to be in good condition and to be in accordance
with marine specifications.
The batteries are properly secured in boxes with lids.
PLUMBING SYSTEM AND TANKS
The seacocks appear to be in generally good condition. Seacocks and flex sections
should be inspected at regular intervals.
The bilge pumps appeared to be in working order. They are more than adequate in
number and size for the vessel.
Inspection of the fuel and water tanks, where accessible, revealed all to be in good
condition.
ENGINES AND MACHINERY
The engine and generators were inspected, where accessible, externally. All was found
to be in good condition with no obvious signs of fuel, oil, or water leaks.
"SIR MARTIN II" file no: 12670 page 11
DECKS AND SUPERSTRUCTURE
The decks and superstructure were inspected. All appeared to be in good condition with
the following exceptions, findings and recommendations.
The decks and superstructure were inspected visually. No deterioration was discovered.
Adequate liferings were noted.
The liferafts were serviced in (May 2012). This should be carried out before offshore
sailing.
An up to date set of flares was noted aboard.
The pulpit and lifelines were inspected. They all appeared to be in good condition and to
be well secured to the deck.
The lifejackets were found to be in serviceable condition. They are adequate in number
for a vessel of this size. One jacket, of the proper size, should always be carried for each
person aboard.
The anchors were found to be in serviceable condition. They are adequate in size for the
vessel.
SMALL BOATS
The small boat was inspected. It appeared to be in very good condition.
MASTS AND RIGGING
The masts, standing and running rigging was inspected from deck level. All appeared to
be in good condition.
The lower fittings were inspected. No cracks or other defects were noted.
TOPSIDES AND BOTTOM
"SIR MARTIN II" file no: 12670 page 12
The topsides were inspected from the dock only. All appeared to be in good condition
with the following exceptions, findings and recommendations:
It was evident that the bottom has recently been painted.
This vessel was inspected afloat without making removals to expose parts concealed. It
is the opinion of the surveyor that the vessel is in structurally sound and in satisfactory
condition for intended service as a yacht.
This survey is base on the facts presented and discovered, based on opinion, with no
warranty either specified or implied.
