    High temperature working

It is suggested that, for temperatures above 35C, the following guidelines are adopted as goodworking practice:

    (i) Store unmixed materials in a cool (preferably temperature controlled) environment, avoidingexposure to direct sunlight.

(ii) Keep equipment cool, arranging shade protection if necessary. It is especially important to keepcool those surfaces of the equipment which will come into direct contact with the material itself.

(iii) Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day, arrange temporary shading asnecessary.

(iv) Make sufficient material, plant and labour available to ensure that application is a continuousprocess.

    Equipment

It is suggested that the following list of equipment is adopted as a minimum requirement.

    Protective clothing : Protective Overalls

: Good quality gloves, goggles and face mask

Application equipment : Knapsack type spray equipment

Cleaning equipment : Proprietary blasting equipment

    Or

High-pressure steam or water jet pump

    Application - points of note

Fosroc operates a policy to encourage the use, where possible, of approved or licensed applicators. This ensures that repairs are completed satisfactorily so that the long-term performance of thematerials is assured. For contractors who wish to apply the materials themselves Fosroc is also ableto offer technical assistance and training.

    Section B : Application Method

    1.0 Preparation

1.1 The concrete surface should be fresh and free of surface water. Please ensure that there is noformations of bleed water prior to commencing application.

1.1 For new hardened concrete, (after demoulding), the surface should be wet before commencingapplication. Dry surface will prove a problem in removing the curing membrane and will leavestains.

    2.0 Application

2.1 Use knapsack type spray equipment for applying Concure LP90 and it will give a continuousand uniform surface appearance. Maintain pump pressure to give an even spray.

2.2 Stir the material well before commencing application. By stirring, there should be an evendispersal of the pigment.

2.3 The spray nozzle should be held at a distance of 450mm from the concrete substrate andpassed back and forth to ensure complete coverage.

2.4 There will be a fugitive white colour formation on the application, which will help in recognizingthe applied areas.

2.5 The application should be continuous and should provide an unbroken membrane.

2.6 Care should be taken that the surface is not trafficked until the membrane dries completelyand the concrete attains its trafficable strength.

    3.0 Overcoating

3.1 Prior to overcoating always ensure that the curing membrane is completely removed asit affects the bonding of the coating.

3.2 Although Concure LP90 will disintegrate with normal wear and tear of trafficking andUV exposure, ensure that the curing membrane is completely removed by jet blastingthe substrate with steam or water.

    4.0 Cleaning

4.1 Cleaning with water will remove the Concure LP90 from the tools and equipment.

4.2 Clean with Nitoflor Sol to remove the wax from the nozzle.

Section C : Approval and variations

This method statement is offered by Fosroc as a standard proposal for the application of ConcureLP90. It remains the responsibility of the Engineer to determine the correct method for any givenapplication.
