A major event in your life One of your favorite objects One of your favorite hobbies A favorite place to go Your favorite pet, food, drink, etc.
Write what you have thought about down on the index card provided.
Now we will use your thoughts…
(Academically, of course)…
To make poetry!!
Concrete Poetry
Concrete Poetry: Poetry in which visual elements play a large part in the poetic effect. Punctuation marks, letters, or words are arranged on a page to form a visual design: a cross, for example, or a bumblebee. Max Bill and Eugene Gomringer were among the early writers of concrete poetry; Haroldo de Campos and Augusto de Campos are among contemporary authors of concrete poetry.
For you… Using the idea written on your card, create
a concrete poem that represents this idea. Challenge: Use figurative language (simile,
metaphor, personification) alliteration and vivid words (imagery). Alliteration: Beautiful butterflies Imagery: bustling city streets under moonlit
skylines, damp, just-rained smell within the air Fig. language: Homework is my worst
nightmare’s created monster.
Examples…
We will use some of your best pieces to help decorate our room!! Be creative and try your hardest!
