Do you know we have a Bible Buck store for kids who attend F.I.S.H. to go shopping for treasures? Each week students earn Bible Bucks for bringing their Bibles, memorizing scripture, participating in activities and showing love and kindness to others. At the end of the month, the children use their

Bible Bucks to purchase items from the store. Please consider donating to the Bible Buck Store. Dollar Tree toys, crafts, books and writing supplies make good items for the store or you can make a monetary donation through the office. Contact Belinda Bost, Children's Minister 828-244-1905 or [email protected] for questions.

Kids In Worship! Our Worship Word for Sunday, August 18 is “Follow”. To follow is to go or

come after a person or thing. Jesus will keep me focused when I know him,

trust him and follow him. Hebrews 12:2 Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is

the author of faith. He also makes it perfect.

In today’s reading, Luke 12:49-53, Jesus is telling his disciples that people are going to argue against him and what he is teaching. Jesus tells them that brothers and sisters and moms and dads will argue about him and disagree whether God’s better way to live is actually the better way to live. This happens in our lives today. If someone isn’t choosing to live God’s better way as Jesus teaches it then they will probably want to argue or fight about what the better way to live looks like. Here is the good news! It is not our job to convince or argue with other people about God’s better way. Our job is to follow Jesus, learn how to live God’s better way and then actually Live God’s better way.

When we keep our eyes on Jesus and live God’s better way we can share with others the good news that Jesus loves them and pray that they will choose to follow him too. And that is way better than arguing.

Dear Lord, helps us to learn from Jesus, how to live your better way so that we can live it and then share it with those around us. Amen.

Look for these Mite boxes at the Welcome Stations. Take one fill it with change and return it in September. Let us help the LWML collect money for the Mission Grant > Water and Word for Rural Schools in Kenya. This Grant will provide funds for the installation of water harvesting equipment like rain gutters and tanks, filters, hand washing stations and clean water storage in Kenya Lutheran schools and orphanages. Each day as you drink, bathe and cook with “good” water, give thanks and pray for this project and the children in Kenya, Africa.

Be sure and get your Kids in Worship bulletin form the greeters or ushers. Crayons and colored pencils are at the Welcome Stations.

For all things Children’s Ministry contact Belinda Bost, Children’s Minister at 828-244-1905 or [email protected]

PrimeTimers met this past Monday for a potluck luncheon and entertainment by Paul and Frances Hale. Lots of great food, (thanks ladies) and songs sung by Paul and Frances and also by some of our ladies. The music session started with four of them singing about “A Few of Their Favorite Things.” It was hilarious but so true. Thanks to the ladies who chose to sing. Then there was the song about the squirrel that got loose in a church in Mississippi. What a great rendition Paul did with that song. Seniors, if you don't attend our meetings, you’re missing a lot of great entertainment. So if you can, think about attending some time! Anyone 55+ is welcome to attend. Welcome to two new members, Alex and Paula Opper. We hope you enjoyed the meeting and look forward to seeing you in attendance again. Next month’s meeting on September 9th at 11:30am in the Emmaus Room will be a potluck luncheon and a presentation about the history of the Hickory area. From the PrimeTimers, we thank Pastor Nelson for his dedicated service to the members of Concordia and for all he has done for us. We wish Pastor and his wife, Barbara, God’s comfort and blessings wherever you may be. Christ's comfort, blessings, and all that He does for us is life's treasure. Don't lose it. Anyone 55 and older is welcome to join PrimeTimers at any of our activities.
