SCHOOL SIBLINGS

As soon as any new student and their parents walk on campus, they can feel that they are immediately part of the Concordia family. We care for each other, want to see each other succeed, and work together to make Concordia the special, loving environment that it is.

This year marks record growth for Concordia with a whopping 187 students present on the first day of school coming from 126 different families and spanning Preschool age to High School. The student population

boasts around twenty different nationalities, making learning at Concordia a truly diverse experience. So in light of the wonderful Concordia Hanoi family that we are all a part of, here is a highlight of some of the individual families that are here at the school. A huge ‘thanks’ to parents and all the people who shared photos of their own families at Concordia and we look forward to welcome so many more throughout the school year.

ONE BIG HAPPY CONCORDIA FAMILY

POWERS OF OBSERVATION

Mrs. Winterstein’s Middle Schoolers decided that the best way to learn

about history is to recreate it and observe what happens.

Here is Grade 6 simulating the medical

check point immigrants had to go

through when first entering the USA

through Ellis Island in New York City.

Ms. Hurford’s Grade 2 class wandered around campus and outside to practice very scientific skills of observation.

Students used their senses- looking, hearing and smelling to see what the local neighborhood was like.

Observing a long-standing Concordia Upper School tradition. Birthdays are celebrated with the birthday boy or girl wearing a silly ‘birthday hat’ while their classmates ‘celebrate’ their age number with a fun physical activity of their choice. Here they are celebrating Sofia’s 12th birthday with classmates doing twelve pushups.

MR. LYNCH’S GRADE 3 LEARNS ABOUT OBSERVATION THROUGH READING

This week Grade 3 began reading The Trumpet of the Swan by E.B. White. It’s a beautiful story about a young boy who travels to Canada with his family. While in the woods, he sees a couple of trumpeter swans and spends many hours observing them.
