THE COMPUTERThe computer, it revolutionized the 21st century, It is everywhere from giant data bases to offices and in almost every home in the united states. It has even come so far the we now hold a powerful hand held device in are pocket that can not only search almost anything you need to know at the touch of your finger tips but you can also record video, images, audio, text, call, etc.I will try and explain all the components that make up every computer weather it’s a laptop or a phone, and what exactly these parts do even.

CPU – CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT• This is what does all the processing in the computer

and logarithmic calculations.• They are made up of transistors which is either on or

off, and has billions of them on a single chip.• The transistors are the reason why computers talk in

binary

MOTHER BOARD• Connects all the hardware to each other and acts as

the main component to transfer data to each part on the computer such as the cpu, ram, ssd/hdd, disk reader, psu, graphics card, the monitor, mouse, keyboard and Ethernet cable.

GRAPHICS CARD• This is what does the bulk of all graphics processing

and rendering.• There are different variations of a graphics card such

as one that get put straight into the pci-e of the motherboard, one that is part of the cpu so its dual cpu/gpu processor. And integrated graphics that are installed on the mother board and are used for the most basic of rendering like for the bios for example.

THE HARDRIVE• This is what is responsible for storing all the

information you saved or downloaded onto your computer, this is where you boot you operating system you files and all your apps and software.

• There are 2 variations, a HDD, which is a slow rotating disk that reads and writes magnetically or an SSD, which is a fast flash type memory that is roughly 10-20 times faster, cooler and smaller, typically used in phones and laptops.

THE RAM• Ram is your temporary memory that the computer

uses to keep large files open like any app you may be running in the background because it is of a magnitude times faster then a hdd or ssd.

• There are different types of ram though the years as it has developed and improved, the latest being ddr4 (double data rate), all while sdram (synchronized dynamic random access memory) though ddr2 are obsolete.

THE POWER SUPPLY UNIT• This as you guessed gives all the power to the

computer, and some of you might ask why we even need a power supply unit, it doesn't do anything right?

• The psu actually regulates the electricity coming from the outlet into a controlled environment to keep the electricity at a given wattage and frequency so it doesn't short out or fry your computer.

INPUT/ OUTPUT DEVICES• All input devices put data into the computer to

analyze such as a mouse or keyboard.• All output devices are like speakers or the display you

are using because it takes the data and gives to say the display to render the next frame or image.
