A Computer is an electronic device thatperforms a given task on the basis ofgiven instructions .

Advantages Of Computer :- Information is available 24 hours a day through access

on the Internet or home computer files or office/workshop servers and computer facilities.

Vast amounts of data can be stored and processedquickly and efficiently.

You don’t need to leave home to shop – you can shopon line and deal with bank transactions and bookholidays – an advantage if your are disabled andcannot easily get out.

You can work from home and use video conferencing/forum or chat to people across the other side of theworld. ( all of which saves money and time)

Computers can be used to control automatedprocesses in dangerous or hazardous places protectingemployees.

Computers can be used to store and process digitaldata, to read bar codes and carry out automatic stockchecks in warehouses and shops.

Computers can be used with voice recognitionsoftware to type for the disabled and to carry outcommands not possible.

Huge advances have occurred in diagnosing diseaseand damage to the body with the introduction of bodyscanners which use software to process theinformation produced to give us maps of the body.

Computers are used to aid surgeons in their operationsand in training new doctors.

We can gain knowledge .

Allow people to communicate with each other globally .

Back up copy of work can be made easily without having re-write every thing .

People with disability whom can’t write can get software that allow them to speak and type on screen .

Computer help people to solve many complex programs .

Computer issued in many field to day to day activity like home bus, education, science, medical etc .

Computer can solve many mathematical and scientific calculation .

Computer reduce paper work .

It can also use for entertainment like listening music , watch videos and play games .

It helps in booking of ticket online .

Disadvantages Of Computer :- Information is readily available, however confidential

information may be accessed unless properly passwordcontrolled

If the hardware fails – economies can be badly effectedas sales may be halted, stock markets fail to receiveinformation and systems relying on computers stop –eg air traffic control of aircraft at airports.

Photographs can be edited using software resulting indistorted images and distorted reality – a commonexample is airbrushing of photographs of models toimprove their figure or the removal of building worksfrom photographs of hotels in holiday resorts orhouses for sale.

Work involving computers may remove employeesfrom social contact with other employees, this changecan cause stress

Computers can be misused – employees who wastetime playing games at work and the unwanted e-mails(SPAM) that fill up the mail box and cause disruptionto normal work.

Unless sites are filtered it is possible for young childrento view unsuitable material on the Internet.

The Internet is an easy means of sharing and swappingfiles often resulting in breaches of copyright.
