CompTIA Linux+ Certification

What is Linux+? Linux+ is a vendor-neutral certification that validates fundamental knowledge of Linux operating systems, from their installation and use to the basics of applicable free software and open source licenses. What will I learn?

Installation and package management. GNU and Unix commands. File system hierarchy. Shells, scripting and data management. User interfaces and desktops. Administrative tasks and essential system services. Networking and security fundamentals.

What are the course prerequisites? CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications. Twelve months of Linux administration experience recommended. How are the online classes conducted?

Classes begin every Monday. An orientation will be held prior to your class to cover the format, expectations, exams, and more. You’ll have a schedule of assignments and deadlines and access to your course 24x7. An instructor will be assigned to you by your start date and will be available by phone or email. You will always know your course progress, what needs to be completed, and by what date. Your progress is always monitored by your instructor, so expect contact if you get off track.

How do I get Linux+ certified?

Commit to and devote at least eight hours of study per week for five months, if you take the online course. This is the equivalent of adding one full work day to your schedule, so register when you have the time to succeed. Because you have access to the course 24x7, you can complete in less time, depending on your time availability.

You’ll need a PC or MAC with a high-speed Internet connection if taking the course online. Follow your instructor’s proven methods of exam preparation. Complete all required course work and pass the final exam.

Pass the two CompTIA Linux+ certification exams: LX0-101 and LX0-102.
