aboutGRE pipe is a non-metal product made through the continuous winding of fiberglass filament that is saturated in a proprietary formula of epoxy resin and curing agents and utilizing specialized winding and heat curing techniques. Epoxy resins have a particular molecular chain structure that provides a superior chemical bonding and curing system. Utilizing fiberglass as an integrated element these molecular features work together to form a 3-dimensional network of greater structural integrity in material strength, smoothness, corrosive resistance, porosity and capillary resistance, thermal and anti-conductivity features.

Steel pipe is particularly prone to corrosion and scaling that incurs high costs for both ongoing maintenance and emergency repair. As steel pipe lines deteriorate their transmission capacity reduces which has a direct impact on commercial operations, increasing costs and lowering profitability.

As an effective solution to overcome these issues Hanwei’s GRE pipe products and services are selected as the preferred replacement to steel pipe. Hanwei’s comprehensive GRE product range includes a wide variety of pipe diameters, fittings and fixtures, and connection methods in high, medium, and low pressure ratings. Hanwei provides all of our clients with a wide range of GRE pipe systems services including product selection and specification, engineering and R&D, pipe layout and plan design appropriate to the use, applications, temperature, pressure, and specific local conditions.

We have a dedicated, industry leading, technical engineering and R&D team with over 50 experts engaged in GRE pipe system solutions. Our wholly owned production facility located in Daqing, China is the largest in Asia. It includes 22 GRE pipe production lines with an annual production capacity of over 4,000 kilometers of pipe for a variety of small and large diameters and pressure ratings and complimented with the most comprehensive range of fittings and engineering services available.

Large scale GRE production capacity allows Hanwei to simultaneously produce a range of GRE products for varying applications with no erosion to quality assurance standards. Hanwei’s production facility can produce up to 15,000 meters of pipe each day. We have the capacity to vary production cycles to meet the time and delivery requirements of our clients for both large orders and emergency repair orders if required.

Hanwei’s exclusive integrated production technology of resins, glass fiber, winding technology and curing processes creates GRE pipe products and fittings that hold superior structural, material and pressure ability. Hanwei GRE Pipe Applications

LINE PIPE & FITTINGS. Hanwei designs, engineers and manufactures GRE line pipe systems for oil and gas production where highly corrosive fluids, high temperatures (93°C) and high pressure (3,600PSI) environments are encountered. Four joining systems are available depending on application together with a comprehensive range of fittings and flanges.

DOWN HOLE PIPE AND CASING. Hanwei offers customized client solutions for down hole and casing applications to meet the mechanical properties (pressure and axial load), chemical resistance, temperature capability, and cost goals which may make one system more suitable than others. Hanwei tubing and casing is offered in diameters ranging from 40mm to 200mm. Applications have included injection system pipelines for water, CO2 and polymer/surfactant applications.

MARINE and OFFSHORE. Hanwei serves the offshore oil production market with a wide range of lightweight, GRE piping systems that can combat and provide superior, enduring performance in highly aggressive marine environments where metal piping is typically replaced two or three times. When labor costs, downtime and maintenance costs are added, the metal pipe costs could easily be more than six times the original investment. Hanwei GRE pipe can be installed for less cost than carbon steel without the need for certified welders or special welding techniques.

INFRASTRUCTURE. Adapting its proven technology and manufacturing expertise from the oil and gas industry, Hanwei provides a range of high performance, low cost GRE pipe systems to address the diverse needs of municipal water and wastewater applications. Hanwei GRE pipe systems have been used in a variety of infrastructure projects in the Middle East and Asia. Hanwei GRE pipe is a preferred choice over concrete pipe that deteriorates rapidly from sewage due to hydrogen sulfide attack.

BRINE and SALT. Traditionally steel and cast iron pipe has been used in the salt and brine industry. Since these types of pipe are subject to scaling and corrosion, after an initial year of service they may operate for only 200 days a year that means not only high costs for repairs and maintenance, and a substantial reduction in production capacity, but also significant environmental impact from leaks and pipe failure.

Specifications of Hanwei GRE Line Pipe(in accordance with API 15HR standards)

Hanwei GRE Pipe Systems include FOUR different joining mechanisms depending on application, pressure rating and pipe diameter:

1. API Thread-connecting Series: 40mm dia. to 200mm dia. with pressure ratings from 3.5 to 25 MPa (500 PSI to 3,600 PSI) 2. DSJ Double Seal-connecting Series: 250mm dia. to 300mm dia. with pressure ratings from 3.5 to 8.5 MPa (500 PSI to 1,250 PSI) 3. Rex-Lock Key-connecting Series: 350mm dia. and above with pressure ratings from 1 to 4 MPa (145 to 600 PSI) 4. Rex-Bonding Bond-connecting Series: 350mm dia. and above with pressure ratings from 1 to 4 MPa (145 to 600 PSI)

Hanwei provides a comprehensive range of fittings and fixtures (T’s, elbows, reducers, etc) and a range of flanges for connection to existing systems. Custom fittings, fixtures and flanges can be developed specifically for our client’s requirements.

Hanwei have two general performance specification classes:

1. Anhydride cured GRE pipe and fittings specifically designed and engineered for extended operating use of up to 65°C 2. Amine cured GRE pipe and fittings specifically designed and engineered for extended operating use of up to 93 °C

Hanwei GRE Pipe Systems have been extensively installed in sub-surface applications. Hanwei GRE Pipe Systems used in above ground applications utilize UV stabilizers and adhesive bonded GRE saddles and/or rubber pads at pipe support points.

Specifications of GRE Downhole Tubing and Casing

Hanwei tubing and casing are made of E glass fiber and epoxy resin with the pipe body formed with a dual angle winding structure. The GRE pipes are generally produced without an inner liner layer but can be customized and engineered specifically according to users’ request and application.

Maximum working pressure is 21MPa and is available in two temperature classes: a. Hanwei Acid Anhydride-cured System for Extended Operating Temperatures of 65°C b. Hanwei Aromatic Amine-cured System for Extended Operating Temperatures of 93°C

Pipe length is approximately 8.8 meters. Hanwei downhole tubing and casing is light weight and corrosion-resistant, provides fast and easy installation, non-conductive, low friction coefficient, and not prone to scaling and wax formation. Hanwei utilizes external upset oil pipe thread of 8-round (2 1/2” to 9 5/8”) or 10-round (1.9”) per inch as per the American Petroleum Institute (API) standards. They are generally connected with external thread and coupling with some integrally connected. All connecting threads are manufactured as per Table 2.2 and 2.6A of American Petroleum Institute standard 5B. We offer extension tube fittings matching various pipe diameters with length of 0.6m, 1.2m, 1.8m, 2.4m, and 3.0m. We can also offer extension tube fittings with special outer diameters upon users’ request.
